The story I heard from an assistant coach whose head coach was at the meeting was that Reid promised to pull Hayfield once she was shown the texts. The coaches agreed to play with the expectation Hayfield would be removed by FCPS.
When she dicked around for a week sending vague emails and let the Edison game play, a frustrated coach leaked the texts to the FT.

He really should just be a private school coach- and I think he would be really good at it.

No, Overton and Thompson being backed to stay. Reid and asst superintendent too. What I see in this is
Principal wanted Overton
If he was available a HC spot would be available
AD knew that if he came kids would follow
AD and principal turned blinds eye to what became a whole influx of transfers
Who tells the kids which loopholes to possibly use coach or AD
I hvnt seen or heard that Overton actually told or influenced anyone
He’s guilty of being a good coach yes
But want to know where his level of involvement is

Actually and sadly it’s not. Reid had the texts since coach’s meeting. The 6 other coaches understood that if they played, FCPS would pull out Hayfield. Instead, Reid put out message after message backing Hayfield, blaming VHSL and calling for OTHER schools to be looked at and held accountable. The Edison game played on. Reid never wavered from backing Hayfield- despite all she knew. At the same time the School Board wrote letters to fully support Reid. FCPS approved leave of absence with full benefits to AD and went on record to say it is in ordinary course and for family reasons….

Left to their own, the narrative is and will be exactly above- that this was all one rogue AD. Reid won’t take action against Principal (except to promote) or Asst Superintendent and School Board won’t take action against Reid.

Families need to keep writing School Board members who are backing Reid or the 3 (Dunne etc) will lose again as did this past summer.

So while it should be sarcastic, it’s actually current narrative being pushed by Reid and Board majority.

The AD has nothing left to lose. I hope he flips on all these cucks and shares everything he has.

My issue actually isn’t with him. The admin hired him and as many on here have said, coming out of this, Overton will be fine and likely in MD coaching. FCPS will be where it is now, a mess. The admins at FCPS need to be fired. They allowed it. Reid allowed it. The School Board allowed it. Zero confidence with them and they are issue. Reid is accountable to 180,000.

As for parents and families that went along with it, $19k/each will help make dent in all legal fees this whole mess has created.

Heard the same. People underestimate how much 6 head coaches and 30 assistants talking to parents and neighbors can control the narrative. Reid and Gatehouse misread their ability to contain the situation.

If this rumor is true, my bet is on the West Potomac coach, Chadwick Louisville. Fritts was the head coach and Assistant DSA at Mount Vernon for 7 years before he took the job at Hayfield last year. Louisville was one of his assistant coaches. I heard that he was the coach who organized the other coaches to send the letter threatening forfeit.
