| I grew up without guns and don't see the need, although I'm not opposed to them or anything. Just not in my house, I guess. But DH is getting more and more into them, buying without telling me and such. His wish list for Christmas includes laser sights and things like that. We have a young child and he thinks it's fine to introduce guns at a young age. I'm just no ok with all this and yes it's new since marriage. Anyone else experienced this? |
Just a phase -- like any hobby. Don't try to control it. I would also say having grown up around guns that if your DH knows a firearm and is a good teacher, that it is a great education for a child to be responsibly introduced to firearms. |
| It's a hobby! I think thus hobby is way better than smoking or alcoholic or even illegal drug or go pay for a proostitin of spending money on other women right? He might have stress from work or perhaps from the family like myself. I go shoot the guns for stress release and buy a gun whenever I feel stressed out |
+1 to all of this. Make sure he stores them safely until your child is old enough to learn about gun safety (and even then, store them safely). |
| I actually never thought of it as a hobby. Thanks for that perspective, PP's. |
| Where does he keep them? Do you like having your child alive? |
buy him a gun safe. we have 4 firearms, it is a hobby and fun. |
| A gun safe is a good idea. |
Kids can figure out safes. Did you drink while you were pregnant too? |

This is tough. While I totally concede it could be a legitimate new hobby, it is one that would NOT be ok with me. Neither would hunting, or fervent missionary work, or constant video game playing.
So I would take serious issue with it, and I'd also argue that if one parent says no guns in the house that parent wins and the other should find an alternate place to store them (is there such a place?). |
| fuck you |
| Please inform the parents of your children's friends about guns in your house. I would not allow my child to be in your home and would appreciate knowing in advance. Thanks. |

| Not worth my kid's lives for a stupid hobby. Tell him to take up something else that doesn't kill people. |
