Same penalties apply to felony murder as apply to premeditated murder. Thus, if they can place anyone in the house between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 1:15 p.m. Thursday, the prosecutors have a good shot getting a murder charge to stick.

Someone disabled the alarm/security cameras so there is nothing..without a actual eye witness that can testify they saw him there, there is not much to go on but speculation and I'm sure if they find stuff like pizza and water bottles etc, he can easily say he was framed and nobody without a doubt can say he wasn't. Courts are great and suck at the same time.

How did a guy like this manage to disable a presumably sophisticated security system?

My prediction: I have a gut feeling that he is going down. There will be lots of drama leading up to his conviction, but no way is he walking.

Physical evidence of some kind in the Porsche would be nice. Circumstantially, finding him in possession of vast quantities of bills in same denomination as the BOA stash is fairly damning. That he fled to NYC immediately thereafter (before his identity was released to the world) looks rather incriminating. I know we live in a post-OJ trial world, but I feel optimistic. Moreover, you just can't spend 19 hours in a house torturing people without dropping hairs, skin cells, dirty tissues, etc. in my opinion.

On an uplifting note -- My friend's son just graduated from Mercersburg with Abigail S. She was there, she had extended family with her, and the ceremony included a moment of silence to honor her parents and brother, and Vera. There were tears. And yet she was able to smile when she received her diploma.

DDW took four lives but this is evidence that he won't succeed in destroying at least this one more. May the Savopoulos daughters, and Vera's children and husband, have the strength of Irma Goff to face whatever else life throws their way.

Wonderful.

Another warning about any information coming from the Daily Mail - my recent experiences taught me not just take their reporting with the grain of salt but pretty much disregard EVERYTHING that comes from their site as completely unreliable and worse than any speculations you find on any anonymous internet boards.
They really seem to have no "on the ground" journalists (well, I will actually argue now that they have no journalists working there. Period.) and all the "info" they get is exactly the same way we do on this thread here but then they go an extra mile to twist everything in the most horrendously speculative way that is as far from the truth as possible. I have no idea if they do this only with the U.S. based stories but in the case of another tragedy where I had some intimate knowledge it was indeed only The Daily Mail that repeatedly printed the most horrendous garbage.

So, yes, don't trust a word that comes from that rug.

Anonymous wrote:Reason for letting 4 seeming accomplices go without arrest is simple: under the Sixth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, certain "speedy trial" rights attach at the moment of arrest. There's a clock that starts, and prosecutors have a limited amount of time within which to obtain an indictment. If they don't, the charges get dismissed. No one wants anybody connected with this crime to be sprung on this basis. With Darron Wint, prosecutors had telltale DNA evidence placing him at the scene of the crime. Easy indictment. The others were clearly involved after the fact, but it may take time and more thorough analysis of evidence to place them at the scene. If they had a role in torturing and murdering this family, you don't want them convicted simply as accessories; you want them charged as principals. I'm sure that arrests will come in the next couple of weeks, and meanwhile, these folks are being watched like hawks.

Very helpful, makes perfect sense!!!

Porsche was burnt pretty good but i do remember seeing a partially burned green vest they were asking people in the area about. The money the can say they found or a million other excuses, I highly doubt he would be convicted of murder for having money that they can't prove where he got it. His gf lived in NYC so I wouldn't think it's unreasonable to go see her? As for the house, the hair, skin, anything there, he could easily say "Savvas invited me over to look at the house and give him a quote to paint it and he got me a pizza or whatever he might make up" but there is noway to prove that didn't happen now.

One thing that is curious is where did he go after he left the house? House on fire @1:15 and the car was burning at 5:30 with a green vest in it. Where did he go that he had to blend in with that vest? I read somewhere that Savvas had a box of these green safety vests in the garage to wear when he went on the the work sites. I wonder if Wint went to one of Savvas worksites after? He went somewhere because there is a 4hr gap

They have to prove without a doubt he was in that house. There is noway to actually prove he ate that pizza in the house or he was walking by when domino's dominos arrived and had a piece while in was on the front step because he was hungry. Only thing they have is dna that they can argue it is a relatives. I think it's going to be a long case.

Why do you keep saying they will argue it is a relative? Does he have an identical twin? From my understanding the DNA profile retrieved was very good. In 2015, DNA testing is very sophisticated and when they receive a saliva sample, it can identify a person with amazing odds. It would be distinct from other relatives unless he has an identical twin. I haven't heard about an identical twin so I don't think an argument that it's not his DNA is going to be successful. I'm sure they have more than the pizza crust, for one, being in possession of the money after the fact and likely they'll find some things on his phone and computer.

Anyone else concerned that the accomplices are still out and about? And obviously rather sophisticated if they disabled a strong alarm system, subdued a large dog and so far, appear to have disappeared?

There may be hairs, skin cells, etc that he left behind.

He would have needed to use the bathroom as well.

Bags of evidence were removed from a residence in Lanham.
Maybe they were able to obtain clothes he was wearing at the scene, which would contain a wealth of evidence.
The burned out car may still contain fibers, hairs, etc.

I'm sure there's lots more, it just has not been made available to the public.

I think they released the information about the pizza crust DNA because they needed to alert the community that: THIS IS THE GUY, FIND HIM.

Now they can gather the rest of the evidence that will be used against him in court.

He spent some of the money on a cab, pretty powerful evidence. And some people, like his girlfriend, are cooperating. There may also be more video from other locations.

Getting through the trial and appeal(s) is going to require lots of strength.

Ugh...because if there is something to argue they will argue it. Unless DNA is 100% every time all of the time without a doubt 100% conclusive(which it is not) then they can argue it.
