Why is the Foxhall Community Citizens Association scared of public school children?

They seem to be awfully reluctant to say outright that posting signs on public space is in fact illegal. The illegal posters who had their signs removed are not victims, they're perpetrators.

After their signs are removed from the fence, the anti-school contingent puts up a blank "Free Speech" sign, presumably to invite the opinions of the community. Someone writes a message on that sign that points to the fact that the FCCA doesn't represent the community as the FCCA is not elected by the community. Someone affiliated with or supportive of the FCCA then erases that message and replaces it with another accusing that person of being a "coward" and asking them to "identify" themselves. Is this behavior par for the course in DC neighborhoods or is there something at the water in Foxhall?

As has been pointed out quite a few times on this thread, Foxhall and the FCCA are not the same thing. I know many lovely people who live in Foxhall Village. The FCCA is a tiny, insular, bitter organization dedicated to preserving its perceived power.

I went through the ANC3D website. the schools were never an adgenda item until June 2021--the ANC poeple had already made up their minds to say "they enthusiastically" endorsed the two schools. They never thalked to their constituents .

Everyone who was paying attention knew about the Foxhall School in May of 2020. It's almost Trumpian the way the Foxhallers say "no one" knew about the school because they weren't paying attention. Several members of the ANC served on the Community Working Group. They listened to their constituents, they found the case for new schools more persuasive than the case against them.

Sadly, this is their hobby.

Anyone have any updates or predictions on what DCPS is going to do with the new MacArthur campus? Can’t believe they’re just letting it sit there and crumble…

They should sell it to Basis, they could use the upgrade!

No updates on related DCPS page:

McArthur school should open in SY 23/24.

I walked by there a few days ago. The location is pretty bad. There is no space for anything outside beside a tiny playground and a half basketball court..

School seems in good condition otherwise.

Is it going to be a middle school?

Huh? There's an artificial turf soccer field, and acres of parking. DCPS says it has way more parking than they need and some of that space will be repurposed.

Oh good. I am the PP and I didn’t circle the entire school. It has a strange location, and I was on one side of it. I didn’t see all that extra space but I am happy if it’s there. It must be hidden from where I was.

A proposal for a public school nearby is made and all of a sudden all these concerns about parking and traffic become all important. Basic logic dictates that if you really care about parking and traffic, the last thing you want in your neighborhood is an elite private school serving non-DC students. But of course this has nothing to do with that but rather horrible prejudices apparently harbored by this group.

I don't think vilifying the Lab school is appropriate. Lots of DC kids go to Lab and DC pays for poor kids to go private day schools like this. The student population there is a mix of self pay and kids paid for by school districts (DC, VA and MD). No one wants to send their kid to a special education private school-its a school of last resort. Its not "elite".

BS. A friend of mine wanted to enroll her child at Lab and was turned away because the child has intellectual delays. It's hardly a school of last resort. They only want to serve a sliver of the disabled population. And these are parents in Maryland that were willing to pay full pay.

Yeah, Lab is actually a really great school, and there are a LOT of really smart, creative kids who attend, they just don't fit the incredibly narrow learning standards of traditional schools. I'd love to send my dyslexic son there, but alas we can't afford it.
