There is only one viable 'conservative' candidate (Goulet). And for the life of me, I cannot figure out the difference between Duncan and Bergman on any issue. So I see it as either Frumin goes though with name recognition (not that is much here) or Goulet goes thorugh since all 25% of conservative dems vote for him. All the rest seem screwed. Now I might be wrong and one of them may have good 'ground' game, but the jury is out. Also from W3, frumin has 403 donors and Duncan only has 331. All others are under 200. |
Your tally is right. Frumin has indeed picked up a few more W3 donors since I last checked (https://dcgeekery.com/dc-campaign-finance/2022/council-ward-3). I was presuming that Bergman would eventually drop out and endorse Duncan, but this seems less likely now that Bergman has the GGW endorsement. Finley gets a lot of YIMBY plaudits for his work on the CT bike lane. And Henry gets support for being young, smart, and YIMBY. If all four stay in, they will be handing the election to Goulet or Frumin. But I can't figure out for the life of me how they would agree on who drops out. Maybe they agree to let Mary Cheh choose or try to organize some makeshift pre-primary? But for the good of W3, they have to figure it out. |
Tricia Duncan is your candidate. |
. . . and Goulet is having a “meet and greet” next Friday that is hosted by Tom Wolfe, who heads the “Save Hardy Park” campaign. Seems like he’s going hard to win over the Foxhall NIMBY contingent. |
|
See this thread about Goulet's racist comments:
https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1057684.page If video exists the comments will come out. Washington Post will have egg on their face for their endorsement. Based on what I've seen from Foxhallers Goulet's vote share in Foxhall Village will probably increase. |
This is patently false. Please stop spreading lies. Frumin has greatly outraised the other candidates and particularly from within the Ward. https://dcgeekery.com/dc-campaign-finance/2022/council-ward-3 |
The difference betweem Bergman and Duncan is that 1) Bergman actually knows what he is talking about and 2) has actually accomplished things as an ANC Commissioner. Duncan uses the words, but she has no idea what she is saying and is unintentionally hilarious in the forums when she uses words in ways that don't make sense. She is clearly a wonderful Community Association leader, but she is clearly having trouble gaining any traction outside of Palisades. |
None of them are going to drop out, and even if they already printed the ballots which are being sent out in a week or two, so it is too late to winnow the field. Also, Cheh is not getting involved. She has said that multiple times. |
The video exists. It is a matter of shaming the Chamber in to releasing it. That they are refusing is quite a tell. |
A couple of weeks ago, Duncan was leading in W3 contributions IIRC. But as of the latest update, he has a lead in W3 contributors (403 to Duncan's 331). None of the other candidates in the race have more than Finley's 136. |
When Goulet is elected, we can thank Bergman, Duncan, and Finley for putting their egos ahead of the public interest. |
She really does seem to be pinning her hopes on her home neighborhood turning out for her unanimously, and I'm not sure that's gonna work. I know that her attempts at reaching voters in other W3 neighborhoods have not gone all that well. A friend of hers whose kid goes to our DCPS hosted a meet-and-greet for her in CCDC and struggled to get people to show up, I hear. |
Duncan was leading in W3 contributions as of late March / early April. See the "Contributors by Date" graphs. |
The contributors map here (https://dcgeekery.com/dc-campaign-finance/2022/council-ward-3/duncan/points) is very telling. Duncan has a lot of contributors in the Palisades, but very few outside. Bergman doesn't have a lot of contributors, but they are reasonably dispersed. Finley's contributors are - like Duncan - concentrated in his neighborhood. If these three got together, they may have a chance. Individually, I don't see it happening. |
In other words, Duncan was able to tap the membership of her community association for donations, but in the intervening month, did little to broaden her base of support. That seems like a campaign that is flailing a little. |
