Why is the Foxhall Community Citizens Association scared of public school children?

Again, WHY ARE YOU YELLING?

If the Palisades Rec Center is "their" park then Hardy is too, both are within the boundaries of the PCA.

YES! WE KNOW THAT THE PALISADE CITIZENS ASSOCIATION BELEIVES THEY CONTROL EVERYTHING!!!

WHY DO YOU KEEP YELLING?

All of the neighborhood's representatives bar one supported it. The neighborhood is not the board of FCCA or a few outspoken residents of the FVHD.

THE "NEIGHBORHOOD REPRESENTATIVES" REFERS TO ANC3D COMMINSIONERS.

THEY ARE STRONDLY ALLIGNED WITH THE KEEP OLE HARDY PUBLIC GROUP .

THEY NEVER INCLUDED THE ISSUE OF BUILDING FOXHALL SCHOOL ON HARDY PARK AS AN AGENDA ITEM UNTIL JUNE 2, 2021 [WHEN THE CITY CONSIDERED THE FOXHALL SCHOOL AND THE MACARTHUR SCHOOLS A 'DONE DEAL'

https://www.anc3d.org/2021-meetings

THIS MEANS THAT THESE COMMISSIONERS WOULD NOT HAVE ALERTED THIER CONSTIUENTS [WARD 3D RESIDENTS] ABOUT THE TWO SCHOOLS. HOW ARE RESIDENTS SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE INPUT IF THEIR ANC REPS DON'T GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY.

THE ANC3D COMMISIONERS WERE IN DERILICTION OF THEIR DUTY. SHAME ON THEM

Is this true? Did ANC 3D never put the Foxhall School/MacArthur School proposal on their adenda until June 2021? No wonder many residents foel like we were blind-sided when we finanly heard about it? Aren't our ANC reps supposed to alert community members to important issues that will affect them? Aren;t they supposed to be "our voice" in DC government?

This is another of the FCCA's big lies. The new school was being quite publicly discussed back in May of 2020. https://www.kohp.org/2020/05/28/mary-cheh-sends-letter-to-deputy-mayor-kihn-on-proposed-foxhall-elementary/

After their signs are removed from the fence, the anti-school contingent puts up a blank "Free Speech" sign, presumably to invite the opinions of the community. Someone writes a message on that sign that points to the fact that the FCCA doesn't represent the community as the FCCA is not elected by the community. Someone affiliated with or supportive of the FCCA then erases that message and replaces it with another accusing that person of being a "coward" and asking them to "identify" themselves. Is this behavior par for the course in DC neighborhoods or is there something at the water in Foxhall?

As has been pointed out quite a few times on this thread, Foxhall and the FCCA are not the same thing. I know many lovely people who live in Foxhall Village. The FCCA is a tiny, insular, bitter organization dedicated to preserving its perceived power.

You have a rich imagination. The Community Working Group had around 40 participants. The PCA had exactly one representative. ANC 3D, which represents roughly 20,000 people who live between Mass Ave and the river, voted unanimously in favor of the school.

And it was Mayor Bowser who dreamed up the Foxhall School. It was all about providing political cover for the Old Hardy giveaway.

Quote from an email written today by FCCA member:

“In March 2021, our community association held a meeting and asked neighbors living in the immediate vicinity of Hardy Park (approximately .25 miles or less), whether they favored or opposed the construction of the Foxhall School on Hardy Park.( https://foxhall.org/fcca-boundaries/)

Our community association wanted to obtain this information to gauge the support of the people who would be most affected by the increased traffic, reduced parking, etc. generated by the construction of the second school on Hardy Park (the first new public school being the school on the GDS campus across the street). https://foxhall.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/March-2021_FCCA_FINAL.pdf

Some have criticized even having this type of vote as evidence that people living near Hardy Park think that “they own the park”. Shouldn’t a neighborhood association ask residents for their opinions/thoughts about an issue that will have a significant effect on their life? “

What school kids go to has an enormous impact on families. Far greater than what happens with city-owned land a quarter mile from where they live.

And they're not a "neighborhood association," they're a Citizens Association.

Did they also poll the 4th and 5th graders at Key as to whether they like attending school in trailers? Public school families in Foxhall on the joys of miles-long commute to school? Families across Ward 3 with young children who lack access to affordable pre-school options because DCPS lacks the space to provide them? I guess this "neighborhood association" didn't feel that this issue would have a "significant effect on their life"?

They don't care about anyone else.

Someone had used the term "selfish assholes" earlier. Seems apt.

I know this FCCA member lives within .25 miles from the park.

This vote was also preceded by a months-long deluge of misinformation by the FCCA Board and systematic efforts to mobilize the participation of those they knew to be in favor and to suppress dissenting voices. It was as much of a sham as the kind of elections that banana republics have.

No, people in NW are generally pretty crazy.

You should look up how nuts the discussion about the trolley trail path has become.

If it's on the internet it must be true. Especially if the person saying it is yelling.
