The Karen meme silences White women

Actually, on the Defund Police thread in the Political Forum, someone did. Some Rep Minnesota legislator tweeted his sympathy for all the "scared, suburban women." A suburban mom made a tombstone with "I'm more worried about racism."

And sure enough, one of DCUM's best and brightest (I suspect a Con) called her a Karen and said nobody cares what Karens think.

NP. Add me to the group that finds it misogynistic. If this were a man, we might find him annoying, or not (sometimes the manager needs respectful input). But we wouldn't call him names and tell him to take his shake and shut up.

Actually we do. But Chad just let it go over his head, and it faded away. Karen, in turn, asked to see our manager.

Karen is one name. Can you list the names of the black men and women murdered by police?

I went down to the protests and marched from Lafayette Square to Capitol Hill and back. I can list some of the names of the black people murdered by police, but not all because the list is too long.

I can also care about white women's voices being marginalized. No, it doesn't rise to the same level. But I can find a few minutes in my day to worry about some care other things.

The Karen meme is Kate Gosselin who was married to an Asian.

PP here. Chad, Thad and Brad are a bit different--they're the dumb athletes who can't do math.

Karen is just trying to do something that, if this were a man, nobody would care.

Aren't there though? Haven't you heard of "The Man" (is out to get you)? There isn't a single name (a "Bob" verses "The Man") to point out the threat that white men represent to black people because it's called the Patriarchy. Recognizing the oppression of women, a signifier arose to capture the type of white woman who actively engages the patriarchy with these calls that provide shelter for the fears that they were and are fed to uphold institutionalized racism. Karens are buying into sexist notions of themselves when they make these quivering calls.

Those who benefit from the protections afforded them uniquely among all women [See Sojourner Truth's Ain't I a Woman?), and leverage their position to further oppress black men universally and black women when they're loud need to be called out. The women upset by the emergence of the Karen (the ultimate power bottom) are leaning into the stereotype of the helpless white woman. If you're not a Karen, you know with certainty this doesn't apply to you. If you're "offended" (more white woman nonsense), then maybe you need to reflect on why it wounds you so.

There is no weapon more powerful than a white woman's tears. [See Emmett Till, retraction.] Black people know this. Cops know this. It's the only true power the patriarchy has traditionally allowed white women. Wake up or hush.

Mr. Charlie.

I'd argue the opposite. People do care. Its just that men take their frustrations out in physical violence. See the two Bethesda racists who attacked bystanders in two consecutive weeks just recently. Also all the school shooters. The Las Vegas man who murdered 500 people in 10 minutes. The Oklahoma bomber.

Karens take their frustrations out on workers and individuals they deem social lower than them. They think their appearance and calling police (even when they are the ones in the wrong) will protect them.

So yes, we care when both sides of the coin take out frustrations on hapless individuals which is why we're calling the actions and behavior out.

You think nobody would care if a man had called the police on black people peacefully having a BBQ in the park? Or who asked him to leash his dog? Notice that when that man tried to accuse some tenants of not actually living in the building recently, he lost his own lease. And the man who tried to keep a man from entering an apart building was also dragged all over social media. You see what you want to see.

Contrary to the opinion of this writer, I’d say the term is both racist and sexist.

Even worse, this is mostly women tearing other women apart.

Seriously. Black women are getting shot dead in their beds, but OP Karen is upset about the logistics of her smoothie pickup.

It's actually Kevin, not Chad, and he would get called out and still think he was right. The problem with some Karens is that they want to enforce their personal code of conduct and then get thanked for doing it.
