| I haven't heard anything. Will probably stall until the case just dies. |
| It has been over a year since this tragedy. Has anyone heard any news? |
Tragedy? |
Latest was that a plea deal was in the works - http://www.newsday.com/news/new-york/prosecutor-plea-deal-discussions-in-kiersten-cerveny-death-1.11990281 |
this "gorgeous doctor" brought this on herself. The only tragedy is here is that her family is suffering. Play with fire, you're going to eventually get burned - no matter how gorgeous or accomplished you are. |
OMG you are victim-blaming and are a horrible person! Is it a rape victims fault because she wore a short skirt ?!?? |
This was really an extremely sad situation for this young woman. She accidentally overdosed and her druggie "friends" dumped her body...which is what druggie friends do. She is the one who willingly took those drugs and willingly hung out with these druggies. You can't really compare what happened to her with some random violent crime. Like it or not, she did most certainly play a significant role in her own death. That doesn't mean that her death wasn't tragic and that it wasn't a terrible waste - because it absolutely was a tragic waste. I hope her family is o.k. |
Of course she would have, but that's not how drug addicts treat their "friends." Drug addicts are addicts first and foremost, and the threat of arrest (and lack of access to drugs) if they called 911 was certainly enough to stop them from getting help. |
I know, PP, it's horrible when someone thinks a woman who leaves her young kids so that she can party and do drugs with her lover should be blamed for that behavior. She is a paragon of virtue and was clearly the victim of a random, senseless homicide. She never put herself in harm's way Poor dear. |
I thought the same thing. Apparently not a tragedy if you're not attractive. And FWIW, being a Mom doesn't make you not a human. The article repeatedly refers to her as 'the mother'. How often are dead men referred to as 'the father' in crime stories? |
| You are STILL blaming the victim! |
You mean "non-white women." |
And you apparently don't seem to understand that willfully doing something stupid (like using drugs) is a bad mistake with completely foreseeable bad results for yourself. Nothing good was going to come of that night. She chose to self harm which is terribly sad. |

I don't view people who intentionally use drugs and then overdose as "victims" of anything except their own folly and bad judgment.
Would DCUM have this same amount of sympathy for poor, unattractive people on welfare who overdose in a bad neighborhood? What about someone in a trailer park in WVA who overdoses on meth? Would DCUM have 30 pages of how tragic their death is? Doubtful. In a way, her actions were worse than the poor person in the bad neighborhood or the person in the trailer park who overdoses. Why? Because they have little hope of things in their lives getting better. But she has it all (beauty, a successful career, a family), and she still threw it all away. |
Can we all agree that she made a mistake and have empathy for her? |
