His state is in shambles. Is he competent?

Why, specifically, is Illinois in shambles? The only big issue I’m aware of is the pension crisis which has it origins going back fifty years. Oh, and lack of soybean exports to China thanks to Trump.

I agree with most of your assessment but "it is clear that a lot of progressives won't for anyone Jewish" is just a non sequitur that shouldn't be in this conversation. Bernie Sanders is still the king of the progressive wing of the Dem party and he's Jewish. The issue is not the religion of any candidate, the issue is if they have an allegiance to a country because of their religious affiliation that results in them wanting to funnel millions and billions to that country to fund actions that many (including people of Jewish faith) have labelled a genocide. That includes any wacko Christian that support Israel because Christ might rise again nonsense or some who is Muslim and wants to start funding a Muslim extremist group to attack Israel.

Do better. People are ok with some social programs. They are saying that going more left — as a whole on several issues, not necessarily on any one issue — is not what they want. Stop trying to force feed people to accept a full course meal when they just want a salad.

The relatively Good looking candidates are more likely to win. Lots of research this topic and the more attractive political candidates have better odds. Warnock and Kelly are less attractive than Vance. Gavin Newsome is more handsome so his odds of winning are better.
