A Sangster parent called them out for not bothering to show up. I'm only on the Zoom but there was 60 people online. No idea how many in the room.

Maybe Rachna doesn't care anymore because she's running for BOS.

Heard she was just endorsed by McKay to be the new Braddock supervisor.

The West Springfiend and Lake Braddock BRAC members showed up tonight at least. But if you're a Braddock voter, you really ought to question why Moon and Sizemore Heizer weren't at the meeting tonight. Because this impacts Braddock residents and they couldn't bother to show up.

Nothing, other than there were a LOT of complaints from parents at many schools, from White Oak to Hunt Valley to Rolling Valley. Lots of concern about the lack of real numbers in scenarios 2 and 3 and confusion about what's going on. A lot of people were also confused about why this is moving so fast.

Well, one of the Board members could win lots of future votes, if they would stand up and state that this is not working.

Makes sense. Not surprised.

Looking at the regional priorities, it seems that Tru’s analysis comments back put a lot in concrete. I’m sure the meeting last week was just confirming the adjustments and finite details.

If you look at the regional priorities it was clear that in a lot of cases Thru didn’t understand the comments, and it remains unclear how Thru is addressing them. And then the School Board can override all of it anyway.

This has been a complete debacle from day one, so no one should be comfortable about any of it right now.

Oh I completely agree. It’s been horrible. I felt some of their comments confirmed some moves (like a lot around Graham road and Timber lane)

Agreed that the board can still override but they also wouldn’t redraft anything themselves.

True but plenty of families still don’t know what’s going to happen with their school and will find out on Oct 10 and then have just a few weeks to try and change it, if it’s an action they don’t agree with.

+1. But I don’t think Rachna stands up for anything. She started this mess as the chair of the governance committee and is trying to wiggle out of it by changing jobs before the vote for the policy. She will leave Braddock children and families without a vote for the biggest policy change in “40 years.” I don’t want someone who shirks responsibility like that as a political leader.

You are right. And, the "delta" of 12.82 minutes means that what is currently less than a ten minute drive is -at best- a thirty minute drive twice a day. And, that is likely in a car, not on a school bus.

KAA needs to be a traditional school. A magnet would be ridiculous. And, KAA would likely be a five minute drive.

I can't follow your math. Wouldn't the delta suggest that a current 10-minute drive would become a 22 or 23-minute drive, not a "30-minute drive at best"?

I'm PP and drive that route (66) frequently. It takes 20 minutes at best in a car assuming no traffic. Do you really think it will take that on a school bus? Have you ever driven on I-66? At rush hour? Go there for evening activities--again at rush hour? Go pick your child up from after school activities?

They are using google maps' time. That is hopeful, at best.

The bus can take the HOV express lanes.66 will be the easiest part of that commute.

True. And, if we lived at Fair Oaks Mall, that would be easy.
You do realize that first one must get to I66. My statement stands. Just checked googlemaps. Right now it takes over 20 minutes (in a car) using the Express Lane. Do you really think it is going to be less than 40 minutes on a school bus? So much for "late starts" for high school.

She's always been like this. I wish Braddock had been smart enough to elect someone else after McLaughlin. Rachna was terrible as an at-large member during the pandemic, basically taking no stands.

Ricardy Anderson did that at the first meeting. She was HOT, probably angrier than the parents.

Counterpoint: She and everyone except Mcelveen has steadfastly supported this shitshow. You shouldn’t applaud an arsonist for trying to put out the raging fire that she helped start.

I think that they wanted a review, a real one. I cannot fault them on that. This is a shitshow. Something that they should just cut bait from.
