How is all this impacting the program currently? Should our kids even tryout here or go tryout at other clubs?

Yeah, RS will continue in his role and they should be able to rehire NM. The woman who was elected is a huge NM supporter, she even mentioned him in her introduction. I think this was a major disappointment for the soccer dad board members who caused all this disruption.

Does reinstating RS mean that they’re rehiring NM? Are they a package deal?

I don’t think package deal really but RS isn’t the one who fired him and I imagine he will want to hire him back at least as a coach. Hopefully with the other TF coaches too

Turnout this week was good. And with the possibility of this whole nightmare the Board/Bored Dads created being reversed then I would say “100% yes” your kid should try out.

Im on the same boat as PP. Sounds like a lot of drama and it is not even clear which leagues the boys team are going to be in. FYI- I emailed the club and they couldnt provide a clear answer.

There is no change to the leagues because of this.

RS has accumulated extensive experience over the years, and I am confident that a thorough audit would uncover numerous discrepancies in the financial records while he was in charge.

Most of the board members have also been on the board for 3+ years (several much longer) so they should be held accountable too but at the end of the day most of them were probably just doing the best they could as volunteers and unless RS was pocketing exorbitant amounts of money I audit is probably a big waste of money too. Problem is the 3 board members have made a lot of accusations about things but haven’t given any evidence or even examples of where there were financial problems or irregularities

Again in our GFR coaches meeting, that the 3 board members called the day after they decided they thought they should run the club said there was NO financial wrongdoing. Multiple coaches said the email implied otherwise and they reiterated it did not mean to imply that. In the same meeting they said they know nothing about soccer, don’t know what EDs or TDs make and that they were going to hire a consultant.
It is clear as day they just wanted RS, NM and ML out and have tried to insinuate wrongdoing without any evidence.
The only one that is benefiting from this is the GFR lawyer!

Exactly. Another coach here! There is nothing earth shattering going on with RS. He is one of the hardest working people you’ll ever meet. Coaches have seen him out lining fields at 8 am. He is always willing to coach a game for a team who is in need - rec or travel. He responds to emails and answers his phone almost 24/7 (i suppose he does sleep sometimes). He runs after school programs that are of no profit to himself or the club immediately but he knows it’s a great benefit to the community and can end up pulling some kids who might not have had the opportunity into the soccer club. Anyone who questions his motives has never seen his passion for GFR, especially for the kids. Probably his only fault is that GFR got bigger than he expected and he didn’t ask for help when he should have. He’s genuinely a decent guy. Most of the coaches love him.

This is 100% accurate!

+1

The only money being abused at GFR right now is these board members wasting funds on lawyers and audits that will uncover nothing but maybe a couple of bad judgment calls.

U19 Boys. No coach assigned. Can someone provide any info about that?

Stay tuned. I think last night was the first step in fixing this Bored Rec Dad nightmare! Soon RS should be fully reinstated and this uncertainty will clear.

Have a kid on a team and looking to tryout for other teams. Was going to tryout at gfr but this sounds like a mess and I don’t even have the whole story.
