I have read that some developmental figure skaters were on the flight coming back from the national championships. Their coaches etc.

This is so very very tragic.

They’re all buckled in their seats, exploded low over the river, and sunk in the river.

Any survivor would be a miracle, maybe where the plane broke apart and they unbuckled fast.

Hegseth is AWOL.

Seems to think a tweet is the extent of his involvement.

What in the world would make you think that Hegseth is AWOL simply because he isn’t personally emailing you or live-tweeting updates?
This is all so sad.

American Airlines CEO says he's heading to DC
From CNN's Alexandra Skores
American Airlines CEO Robert Isom says he will be heading to Washington, DC, to assess the midair plane collision and support employees.

So where is our new SecDef?

Maybe he's there. Why do you want to know where he is? Are you planning something?

Usually you don’t tweet you are “poised to assist,” if you are on the ground or are planning to head to the site. See what AA CEO announced, that he is headed to Washington. It conveys he is serious.

These are unserious politicians.

Imagine if this helo rammed the landing plane over downtown DC, Georgetown or the natl harbor.

Yup.

Trump is such an idiot!!! Indiscriminately telling ALL Federal employees they can quit. Even when we have a shortage and their jobs are a matter of life and death. Fox employees cannot take everyone’s place 🙄

Well, i would agree with you if this happened 1 month or even one week from today after a bunch of quits, but this is too recent to say it has anything to do with the OPM resignation; the other argument was that this is a leftover issue from the Biden administration but I don't think its either case so time to move off politics.

They obviously needed more training.

Wonder why they would do a training flight at night in very restricted air space by a very busy airport? Watching channels 4 they shows the helicopter traveling from east to west over the river towards National. If the helicopters continued its course would have taken it over the runways at National.

THIS

Training doesn’t mean pilot training

You hope an experienced pilot would have stayed under 200 feet as per regulations and his/her flight path was take them over the main runway. The main runway has planes taking off and landing every 2-3 minutes. Not where you want to be in a helicopter at night with lots of lights.

Maybe a helo pilot with common sense about cities and airport traffic. Or wash DC and DCA whatsoever.

Oh, one more week? And then this administration would be responsible? Mmmkay.

Trump just tweeted a nonsensical rant. Nothing official or professional. It was exactly like someone speculating on DCUM would post. I can’t take 4 more years of that mental midget being in charge. 😩

Bet they were looking at the lights and monuments. Too busy to hear air traffic control asking TWICE if they could see the AA jet.

I pray it was instantaneous and before the plane hit the river.

Looks like Air Traffic Control error.

Why? Why did they ask instead of give commands to pull up the a certain altitude or move right or left?
Crazy to ask repeatedly if the pilot sees because there’s no time to correct course if the answer is no.

Did you listen to the ATC recording? The helicopter pilots screwed up.

Well that would be in recording. Terrible

Not ATC error. Helo pilot at fault.

Two Republican Senators from Kansas are there. Watching them on CFS. One is ironically the chair of the Subcommittee on Aviation. Bowser with them.
