She's had a couple of years of rec volleyball and was on her HS freshman team. So she's pretty good but I don't know how that translates to club volleyball. And like you said, U15 is very competitive. Is switching clubs a possibility if she makes the U15 team or is that not allowed? |
NP. You will be leaving a 14 team without a player a week after tryouts ended. You don’t know who that coach talks to and it’s not a good thing to do. Forget trying out for that club in the future. I don’t know the answer to this question, but I know my DD is assigned the team in CHRVA when she accepts. Can a club release you to be reassigned? I don’t know how that works. |
| And also, which clubs does she want to go to? My DD has been going to U15 clinics consistently for 2 months for the clubs she’s trying out for next weekend, same for all of her friends. It’s extremely competitive. I wouldn’t chance it unless your daughter had been to a lot of clinics. |
It’s always a bad look to change your mind after accepting an offer, but I especially agree that it would be even worse if you waited to do so until after 15s tryouts. That would absolutely put the 14s coach/club in a tough spot. |
If she is a relative newbie let her play on the 14's team. She will probably get more playing time there anyway. |

If anyone stll needs to get on a U14 team, check out Battle VB.
https://www.battlevolleyballclub.com/girlstravel "We've added a second U14 team!! So if you're still looking for a home, please come to our makeup tryouts this Thursday, Oct 30th, from 6-7pm at The Virginia Volleyball Factory!!" |
Pretty good (even advanced) in rec volleyball means beginner in club volleyball. I would not risk it unless your clubs B and C are mediocre to bottom clubs and they have plenty of openings (low return rate). If we knew the names of the clubs, we could offer better advice. |

My daughter is also a HS freshman who qualifies for 14U, and we decided to go with 14U as we didn’t want to risk being shut out of a 15U team. Next year she will probably try out for both 15U and 16U, sine those tryouts will be the same weekend. But with 14U tryouts being the week before there was no way to do that this year. |

New to vball here- now that there is a makeup scheduled, is it an option for my daughter to attend more than 1 day of tryouts if she didn’t get an offer after the first day? |

It is quite unlikely that a club would give you an offer during a makeup tryout if they didn't give you one after their regular tryout. You are already on their radar and you may get an offer if they become really desperate (they cannot find anyone better no matter how much they try). You should read the writing on the wall though: they saw your DD, they didn't give her an offer, but they are still trying to find players. |
DD tried out for and played on XP last year after not getting an offer from other teams. Overall it worked out well - she grew a lot as a player and got an offer from her first choice club team this year. Would definitely recommend trying out if your daughter is still looking for a spot. |
