SSFS HOS leaving

I agree that he’s probably just sticking it out for his son to graduate.

The MS day to day functions well because of people like ER, FZ, and a lot of strong teachers.

What makes you say that? Not saying he does or doesn’t, just don’t know how you concluded that so easily? At the MS level he seems to have been managing admin, budgeting etc isn’t he?

Not PP, but a SSFS parent and I know DB. He has all you say, and is a great leader. The email said they are looking for experience with enrollment management, business experience, and advancement (ie fundraising). I don’t think he has those things - he is an educator.

Has to start somewhere. All HOS should be former educators and continue to be strong advocates for educators. These other skills are learned on the job.

I'm not part of the SSFS community but another independent and disagree with that opinion. If your school as strong educational leaders in place promoting a strong academic vision, a having a HOS with a strong business mindset will lead to major success as they'll be fundraising and effectively managing funds that you need to run the school.

But unfortunately they’ve lost some of their strongest teachers.

They lost 2. Yes they were strong, but IMO as a parent not the strongest teachers in the building. There are 18 others who have been there for 3-30 years. There's a reason the MS has the lowest turnover of any division on campus.

I absolutely agree with a previous post - HOS must have strong business sense including enrollment management and fundraising. HOS must also be able to promote the school and keep strong relationships with alumni. It's the division heads that must have strong education backgrounds in curriculum, instruction, and child and adolescent development

What is the reason that MS has been more successful in retaining faculty?

I agree, he did a great job.

Big loss for SSFS!

Apparently he left to be closer to family. Same reason they gave for the head of US who left last year.

And his kid graduated - so little need to stick around in a rough situation.

Don’t mention people’s kids, especially if you want those people to stick around? just a thought

Not sure what you are referring to? I think people are just pointing out that staff leave after their kids graduated. There have been a number of departures for this reason

The AD departure seemed sudden, but he is already working his new job in PA. So he had this lined up a while and never told the school or the school never bothered to announce he was leaving?

Maybe the AD asked not to have it announced?!

That seems strange. Though given the fact that there have been other unannounced departures or announcements made as late as possible, I think this was more RGs decision not to announce so as not to panic families even more.

My bet is RG didn't want another resignation on his "record." Announcing later makes it appear that this could be a resignation in solidarity.

At what point to RG know he was going to be asked to leave and decided to resign? 2 years ago RG spread out announcements - and handled things in different ways for different positions. So who knows. At least there is a clean slate to start fresh as well as opportunities for some wonder teachers and staff.
