SSFS HOS leaving

He just announced he was leaving, effective immediately. Low enrollment, teachers leaving and being let go. What’s going on there? Anyone know?

Wow. That’s too bad. Obviously, it didn’t end well.

On one hand it seems very unprofessional to leave suddenly in the middle of summer with no warning or time for a search (especially when head of upper and lower schools will be new) but on the other hand I’m very glad to see him go.

He may not have had a choice.

How sad. I liked him. He was an inspirational speaker with great vision.

I’m hope that’s the case because it would give me a bit more confidence in the board.

I like that his farewell email included a bunch of patting himself on the back. Very on brand.

What happened in lower school?

What do we know about the interim HOS?

It is also giving Friends Community School vibes as they also had a black head of school who didn’t last. Looking at the board for SSFS, it seems to skew old Quakers- maybe they are also strategic masterminds but this is not a strategic move for the school at all. They could have given him an expiration date a year out to allow for a search and a sane transition. Eek.

I’d say it’s much more likely they briefly paused the constant praise and adulation for the Rodney show (bc of major financial problems) and he essentially quit in a snit.

I knew he would not last after publishing a letter or article stating he was being racially profiled by a teenage who was a summer camp counselor who approached him in his car on his first day of work at SSFS.
