University of Richmond thoughts

I’ve found it to be valuable. The comments about the UR campus feeling like the Truman Show resonated with me. Also highly doubt that UR is close to being a top academic school.

As a POC - I found the comments about the lack of any real interracial connections helpful. Thanks but no thanks.

I’m a junior in HS. Glad I took the time to read through this thread. Some of the posts are catty but some are also pretty informative.

University of Richmond is a terrific school and one that my rising Junior is quite interested in!

I think it's a good school, especially the business school. It wasn't at all a fit for my students, but it's pretty and gives a fine education. Many would like a private school like that.

If you have read Dante's "Inferno," "Purgatorio" and "Paradiso" in Italian, as my relative did at Richmond, then maybe you would have thrived at Richmond academically. If not, then perhaps I'm not that interested in such an opinion as that which you offered here.

Sorry your kid didn't get in.

Not a good fit here. Seemed stifling. My kid liked WM though.

My recently graduated relative, who had made Richmond an ED I choice, loved her time there!

Not in same class with top VA privates. Reminds me of Christopher Newport.

I think Richmond is a forward looking school, investing in curriculum and programs that strengthen student outcomes in our rapidly changing environment. The business school and school of leadership are very interesting and relevant. There are interesting interdisciplinary majors between Asian studies and global business, they offer grants for kids who take low paid or unpaid internships to gain practical experience. Lots of opportunity to work with profs and mentorship. Also gets strong ratings for happy and engaged students. As a parent, I appreciate that.

My neighbor is a freshman there. She’s transferring. Social scene sounds a bit toxic. Straight out of mean girls.

My understanding is that a group of lax bros and sorority girls control the social scene. Can be tough if you don’t fit the mold.
