Or…common folk, like you, can return to the forum for the masses (AKA, the public school forum). I know that you like it better over here, but you really don’t belong.

You keep trying to convince us, and yourselves, that you’re “receiving a private school education for free.” However, the truth is that you’re receiving what you’ve paid for: a public school education for free. That’s why, on average, the outcomes are different. Despite your trespassing on this thread, our experiences are not the same.

lordy, you reek of insecurity.

Relax, dude. You can simply skip over the links for public schools.

I’m a parent with kids in private and kids in public. They have friends all over the DC area. I like having the consolidated list to see where our friends over the years have landed.

Maybe it is for you. Not for everyone. Some choose it simply because the experience of learning is much more enjoyable for their kids. In the same way that some people will pay way more money for private jets or first class plane tickets, staying at five-star hotels, eating at Michelin-starred restaurants, skipping the lines at Disney, or sitting in the front row or club seats at sporting events/concerts.

Agree it is 14 years of their lives as opposed to 4 for college. Much more influence on their lives. It is the journey not the destination.

Which privates do you in particular can provide the best 14 year experience? (K-12s)

This seems like a really naive question. You do realize that private schools can be quite different and some are better for certain personalities/learning styles than others? Plus schools can change somewhat in rigor and expectations from lower school to upper school. This is why you often hear the word "fit" used in admissions, etc.

Agreed. Plus DC, their class cohort, teachers and admin within the school change overtime so look for what is best for your child now and then reassess (and switch schools if needed) as they grow.

You keep spending your discretionary income on things, I'll spend mine on experiences.

Private school is an investment. There are other factors, beyond college matriculation, that are involved in choosing privates.

True, and I also care about matriculation.

If it’s your school, why don’t you add it?

I say this (in my head) all the time. The experiences of my nieces and nephews in their public schools make me think it all the time. We're basically buying a classroom environment with little to no disruptions, among other things. It's not lost on me that we enjoy the experience as much as the education itself.
