OP here. It’s sad you think that pointing out atheist abuse is just “trolling.” It’s sad that some of you still don’t understand (or don’t want to understand) the concept of per capita numbers. Or that you continue to argue that a guy (Dawkins) who sold 3.3 million books containing paras promoting pederasty “has no influence.” Or that you tolerate the kindergarten trolls on your side. Or that the atheists who contributed to a legal defense fund for an accused atheist rapist because…mumble mumble…we have no organization… or something. This thread exemplifies the larger problem of denial and deflection among atheists when their own are accused of sexual misconduct. I started this thread because the anti-Catholic bigotry is so pervasive that the forum is basically useless. Not trolling. And I’m not even Catholic. I just want to be able to use this forum. My only point here is that people suck across the board. This isn’t an exclusively Catholic thing. Or a school thing or an atheist thing. Some of you already get it. Others among you atheists are defensive and in denial—you’re probably the ones who will continue trying to turn this forum into a cesspool of exclusively anti-Catholic bigotry.
I’m impressed with the dedication to this ruse. You’re eloquent. Almost too eloquent to be believed as someone who isn’t being satirical. I mean if you believe the things you’re writing that’s actually enough to make my day. I mean your assertions are comically illogical, but hey, whether they’re true or not, the audience is entertained. Anyway, can we start a thread about how everything organized religion touches it turns to sht? You guys see that Missouri reinstated corporal punishment in high school? I read that and then looked at the other states that allow it. It’s all backwoods, Uber religious places like Mississippi and the south. Super religious states. Also, you know what the number one selling child rearing booking is for Christians? “To train up a child”. This book, by and evangelical author, advocates biblically sanctioned child abuse as a form of discipline. So no only are your churches filled with molesters, it’s also filled with child abusers. Get your fking heads on straight. No wonder people are abandoning your pews. It’s abusive.
Organized religion does a lot of good, too. Feeding the poor, consoling the sick and the elderly, sheltering immigrants, and more. You’re just proving yet again how bigots like you have blinkers on. But you just keep attacking the messengers about atheist abuse. There’s more than one of us—I didn’t post the long article on rape at that atheist convention and the atheists who contributed to the atheist rapist’s legal fund. about atheist abuse. It says a lot about you that you keep spewing hate while you deny sexual abuse among atheists.
I’d say the good it does may be a wash or at best a delicate balance. You go in to places like Africa, give food, but also preach guilt, superstition and no condoms and diseases like AIDS are spread more easily. You have evangelicalism that has infected Africa to the point where who knows how many poor gay people have been killed because of your message being taken too literally. Also, mother Theresa was no saint. She was actually quite cruel and a proponent of suffering. Look it up bro. Also look at the history of slavery and religion being used to justify the slave masters basically keeping people in mental chains because it was “written in the Bible”. Not to mention all the effects in the Phillipines. The whole thing is a massive guilt ridden scheme that dissuades healthy teachings of sexuality. So yes, for the soup kitchens, there are also many downsides. Then there are the priests molesting because they are repressed. I would still rather associate people who operate on a less rigid belief in God and who operate on the Golden Rule vs organized religion.
