Nobody does. All of the bullying comes from the direction of the universal masking group.

Nobody makes fun of people masking? Now you’ve shown you’re a liar.

Make fun of people for general masking? No. Make fun of people that preach/bully about universal masking from their soapbox? Yes.

You might think it’s making fun of those on a soapbox but I bet if your kid overhears they conflate it’s with anyone who masks. The better example is just not to make fun of people at all.

I don't know anybody in real life who is obsessed with/screeching about mask mandates. That's unique to the MCPS board. So nobody to make fun of in real life.

Same for 11th grader. May take it off if they feel comfortable with distance and ventilation. May be a bit more relaxed when next booster becomes available, but a friend's parent is immuno compromised, and dd wants to do her part, since she has some close contact with friend. Also, my immune system isn't great, and I think she is trying to be cautious for me too. We mask in public places and visit with only a few people (and try to keep things well ventilated), vaxxed/boosted. None of us have had it yet.

But I know when (not if) you do get it, you will say, "But we did everything right!"

DP, but what is the point of your post? PP is trying to reduce risk while continuing with life.

What is to you?

Most people are sending their kids to school unmasked, including the very conservative Leana Wen. Even she realizes it is near impossible to contain the virus and it is all about risk tolerance. We can't continue to rob our kids of their childhoods.

A mask does not rob kids of their childhoods. But they also don’t prevent transmission, and they’re essentially pointless now. My kids will not be masking at school.

Many of us do not believe that a child wearing a mask is being robbed of a childhood. Dr. Wen points out that her son's language development has been harmed by mask wearing. If your kids' development has not been harmed by wearing masks, your risk assessment will differ.

They reduce the risk of catching viruses and of course they reduce the risk of transmission.

They are not being robbed of a childhood. You simply don’t want them to wear one. Just say that otherwise, we all know you are being disingenuous.

Who are you responding to? I said that masked kids aren't being robbed of their childhood and that not everyone thinks that masking has caused harm to their children.

I stand corrected.

And most people do believe it robs kids of childhood. Not being able to see people's facial expressions for going on three years is too much for kids. Not being able to hear your teacher or friends is problematic when it is constant. Not being able to breathe all day is horrible. I never put my kid in the KN95 nor do I wear one unless i know I am near someone with covid. For one of my kids, I can't even find one that fits properly, so it's a joke when she does wear it.

There are companies that make them for kids and have easily found one. You simply don’t want. It “robs” you.
