New Additions to Leagues Check Up (ECNL & GA)

Why does it matter? Im 99.9% sure my kids GA team would beat whatever team your kid plays on. Unfortunately once you get to the showcase level top clubs play each other less and less outside of their own leagues.

My daughter plays on a showcase GA team from a well known midwestern club with a reputation for producing college players. Our showcase team has attracted many D1 coaches from SEC, Big10, ACC, etc. Multiple kids on her team, including my daughter have played ECNL. Outside of the top tier ECNL clubs, the level of competition between ECNL and GA is much closer than most want to admit.

The top of the GA and the middle of ECNL are closer than you want to admit.

As a parent with a kid on a top GA team. The top GA teams and top ECNL teams are pretty much the same thing.

out of the top 100 clubs in the country with the most 2026 commits as of now with 6 of more commitments, 17 from GA, 83 from ECNL
out of the clubs with 10 or more commitments, 6 from GA and 50 ECNL

I think it is more of a question on what the landscape will look like in a few years. I dont think many should argue that GA and ECNL are the same for older girls.

Can confirm this is true. Have 1 DD that plays GA 2009 and one that plays ECNL 2012. The level of play at the top is the same. But GA has the new energy with a surge in interest that is taking top players out of ECNL. It’s good healthy competition that we should all look forward too.

Now watch the Karen ECNL fan moms take the rest of her day off to calm down after reading this. Dear Karen, no one cares about your biased opinions. Try not to hyperventilate after reading this. Focus on keeping your DD off of twinkies for the summer because we will be training hard with one mission: to defeat your daughters ECNL team. By a lot. Nothing can prevent what’s coming.

As others have said imyouthsoccer cherry picks data that's often wrong. Its obvious to anyone that works with numbers that after DA blew up the top clubs went to ECNL and the number of committs is a lagging detail.

Why not highlight that the number of GA commits has gone up every year since inception of the league? They post the numbers from every year on the GA website. ECNL stopped doing this for some reason. Wonder why?

GA has already taken half of ECNLs recruitment visibility. Think about it if you were a recruiter would you choose to look at a middling ECNL club or a top GA club?

What will happen over time is ECNL players will go to the top GA clubs and vice versa. Regionally there will be a few top GA clubs and a few top ECNL clubs then everyone else.

This is dumb? GA has taken half of ECNL’s recruiting visibility? A NOVA team had 185 coaches at a single game in North Carolina this past weekend.

That doesnt make sense.

Recruiters aren't shopping for players at events. They're there to look at players who have contacted them.

At most each team is rostering 22 players. This means max of 44 players reaching out to colleges and asking them to watch them play.

If theres 185 recruiters watching a single game this means each player is inviting 4 recruiters each and all the recruiters are showing up at the same time, same game.

Just stop with the outrageous lies.

Not the poster wtih 185 Coaches at a single game - guessing it was probably VDA v. Ukies 2009. They played Saturday later in the afternoon. But, I can tell you that my DD plays ECNL 2009 and there were a ton of coaches at her games. 130 Day 1, about 100 day 2 and about 80 on day 3. Were the coaches all D1 P4? No, of course not. There was a mix including some well regarded mid majors and even higher end D3 schools. Her team has just about everyone interested in playing some sort of college soccer so they have been consistently reaching out. And, it was the last event before the June 15 date which also drove attendance.

This whole ECNL v. GA thing is just getting silly. Play where it works best for you. If that's GA, great. If that's GA, great. Good luck.

I dont see that GA parents that concerned about ECNL. Seems like most of the time they're responding to taunts from ECNL parents.

Also I have seen people wearing ECNL hats at an events. (Which i think is ridiculous as well) So theyre right about that one.

If true I bet every recruiter there was thinking to themselves "this is stupid what am I doing here". I also bet that many of the recruiters booked flights for GA events to next day to see what else was available.

Im surprised leagues dont serve alcohol and food to recruiters to keep them at the games.

It's too bad pro-ECNL folks keeps punching down. But we have some wild GA trash talk, too. It all ruins the soccer.

Well at least we agree that they quit because theyre not good enough to "cut it". Seems like a problem for girls ECNL.

Less "punching down" and more nervous flailing because they know GA is receiving recruiter attention.

This cherry picking data. If there are more freshmen each year from ECNL than any other league, then its just logic that there would be more who quit. What would be a good statistic would be the dropout rate by league, i.e., if there are 500 ECNL freshmen what % dropout after freshmen year? and if there are 100 GA freshmen same?
