They won Jeff Cup 3-0 in the final at the height of the merger news in the middle of tryouts while missing players |
How can moms still be pushing Union? Literally, the league told you Union is not good enough for ECNL, and you still post on this forum? What does it take for the message to sink in? |
Side deals? Is this a real thing? any examples? |
Does FVU have parent "managers"? Brave currently does not. |
Union managers run the teams. |
2011 Union - 9th 2010 Union - 2nd (CL Qualified) 2009 Union - 7th 2008 Union - 8th 2007 Union - 4th (CL Qualified) 2006/2005 Union - 4th (Champions League only for top 2) |
Boys will dominate on playing time. The opposite will happen with girls. Similar to how the rostering occurred. |
As a boy parent I have already seen some positive change in terms of club focus/ investment of the boys. MYS had a ‘who cares’ attitude toward the boys program/coaches/players forever —which is why they are in the position they are in. They turned a blind eye and would not give boys the time of day. Guess where that led them? FVU appears to be prepared to provide ample focus and investment to boys. They are clearly making some early mistakes with how they handled tryouts and lack of comms/ retention of families and secrecy. The slowness of tryout process did not do them any favors. But, at they have been clear that boys are no longer serving as the cash cows for girls. They still need to deliver but at least there is a semblance of a plan. It’s unfortunate that they couldn’t /didn’t try to retain the strong MYS coaches along the way- that was a miss. But overall MYS leadership/Board and former club TD could learn a valuable lesson about how to not lose an entire club through mismanagement and using one side to fund the other. |
How was the boys side a cash cow for girls? |
To be fair MYS did try to fix the boys by doing the alliance with SYC. But that failed and then ECNL brought down the hammer on MYS and Brave. They did not need to combine the girls teams though. |
MYS combined with SYC for the girls and it saved 08, 09, 10 age groups for them. Are you guys still buying the NM/CW wolf tickets? |
That is the hope going into next season for the girls 2011s and 2010s. If they don't change their ways where everyone plays equally and this results in losses, top talent will be leaving. Right now these parents are watching what happens next season and hoping that the co-coaches from Braves will put the lid on this non-sense. Its not possible to develop everyone. Especially, players that were not selected based on merit and are in the team due to their connections. In MD, Bethesda is the best program to make it to the ECNL playoffs due the way they run their program. In Northern Virginia, if you check the standings, its always two teams that make it consistently to the playoffs in High School. So those two teams in high school will end up with most of the top talent. If FVU is not one of the two teams, then most of the top talent will leave to the playoff bound teams. Most parents whose kids are top talent with no inside track to specific colleges want an ROI and will move on. |
Brave coaches fixing Union coaches? |
I guess if they can check each other then there is no hope! |
The only team CW is the head coach of in the fall is MYS pre ECNL 2013. He’s taken himself out of the picture. But I agree that next year is a transitional year for 2011 and 2010. If parents of the top players don’t feel like they are challenging for champions league they will leave. And it will be tough because (1) there might only be 4 spots next year and (2) for 2011 Arlington and Charlotte are locks for two of those spots so FVU has to be in the mix with VDA, Beach, Richmond and Courage which right now they cannot consistently beat. |
