MLSN and GA don't care if clubs also have ECNL.

ECNL won't let any of their teams be 2nd to MLSN or GA.

Multiple clubs have tried to have MLSN as their 1st team and ECNL has their second team. When this happens ECNL threatens to take or does take girls ECNL away.

You misunderstood her question. And for heavens sake stop being in denial. It’s 2025 and the age of avoiding reality is over. All good ECNL girl players are moving to GA next season or those who got a spot. My DD is on ECNL team and our top 6 players all left. She’s hating it now.

This is one of the most batshit crazy statements I've read in awhile. Please more deets at least state and age level

This might surprise you, but ECNL is not the same in all parts of the country. This forum has gone national. Easy to believe this happens much more often than you would think. There are plenty of states/cities with strong ECNL and GA programs, weak ECNL and strong GA, and strong ECNL and weak GA.

I hear there will be a few seismic booms moving from ECNL to GA next year. MAJOR clubs, this was from a source who is involved in the negotiations. The flood gates should open after that. Bankruptcy lawyer in an earlier post should contact ECNL as they could file earlier then expected if MLSN + GA ends up being check mate.

That’s interesting. I thought all the movement was going the other way. Where is your club?

Quite the opposite. ECNL didn't keep with the times. They are being phased out of National importance/pathways. High schoolers now can get away with staying. In 3-4 years time anyone serious about D1 and beyond will be GA and MLSNext.

Women's sports is always second fiddle to men's but GA attached itself to MLSNext so they will be the women's pathway moving forward not ECNL.

Any male player wanting top tier national recognition goes for MLSNext already. Anyone that says ECNL boys are in par with MLSNext is a delusional idiot. Or doesn't live near an MLSNext club.

Let booms happen. Best case scenario for my VA family is that everyone goes GA except for VDA and Union, and all the best players still want to play ECNL for sometime. Re-creating the FCV model at one of these two clubs. Both are setup for long term success on the girls side. Struggling boys may actually help Union stay in ECNL because nobody wants their boys teams in MLSN. In short GA may win out, but no one is going bankrupt, and there will always be a slice of the recruiting pie for another league.

We know its national discussio now, hence the question again what state and age level is this happening? Otherwise you're full of it. One-offs is not a movement either. There is one girl I know for examples did ECNL u13-u14, GA u15, and back to ECNL u16. So sure they left ECNL for GA for 9th grade but immediately returned to ECNL

I like how the ECNL hats are slowly accepting reality that GA is here to stay.

The mid level ECNL parents see that recruiting is spreading out to the top clubs in both GA and ECNL.

Also clubs can't hide behind a badge anymore with the ranking app.

the college coaches go to the best showcases to see the best players.see which league they go to, which are having increases in coaches turning out and decreases. the facts are, ECNL provides the best opportunity to succeed. period. maybe GA can catch up, but they are 4-5 years away and they need to seriously work on their showcase schedule.

This is not happening in the mid-Atlantic. If you look at the GA teams from NJ to VA, the best players are still in ECNL. The GA teams in NJ and PA along with VA are weaker. The only way things change here is when PDA, or Bethesda leave ECNL. Arlington was already in GA, so I can't see them going back. VDA won't go back (I say back because of BP) either. FXU isn't good enough to change direction. So for a high school girl player, the place to be is ECNL.
