Asians are suing Harvard and UNC - Chapel Hill for use of quotas

Anyone can file a lawsuit. Winning one is a different story.

Step in the right direction.

I support the suit, but why singling out harvard when pretty muh every top 50 private school does it?

Seems nutty. There are tons of Asians at all the Ivies. If the plaintiffs want to argue they are "better qualified" than others, the institutions can just change the required qualifications. Schools ought to be allowed to look at more than test scores, as they are prone to abuse.

This isn't just an Asian issue. White girls get killed in the admission game as well.

So no dog share the "everything is ok" attitude. Ucla and cal policies are the best

The Ivies use an admissions model that they adopted in the 1920's to stem the waves of Jews, when they were overwhelmingly the majority of academically superior candidate. It hasn't changed much since then, except now they are "dealing" with Asians, Indians, etc.

This ought to be very interesting to watch in the future. Once the Hispanics and African Americans are totally edged out and white students are the only ones left, we'll see how that battle comes to a head. The lawsuit also wants legacy eliminated. It will be interesting to see if the deep pocket contributors continue contributing when their kids can no longer legally get a hand up on admissions. You can change the law but you cannot force people to give up their money.

The issue is not just relying on test scores: it has to do with a concerted effort to limit Asians at some of these schools because they don't want a student population that is skewed towards Asians.

This is outright racism and should not be tolerated.

Check out this link and how blatant the discrimination is against Asians.

Cal Tech is over 60% Asian. I don't think that's discrimination.

Hey asshole!
This lawsuit is about discrimination against Asian AMERICANS. And you're purposely trying to mislead people with cheating incidence from South Korea and China.

Not the PP but maybe you need to cool your jets and watch your language if you want to have an intelligent debate.

And that is precisely why some of the elite colleges discriminate against Asians. They don't want a student population that looks like Cal Tech.

It has nothing to do with wanting well rounded applicants ...... it has to do with wanting fewer Asians so that they don't end up looking like Cal Tech.

You don't have intelligent debates with assholes. You point out they're assholes. That's all.

They'll lose. There is no court that's going to tell Harvard they have to go just by test scores. And once you take that option away, it becomes too subjective to prove.
