You seem so invested in this story... why do you insist like it is the one true story?

You're addressing at least two different posters, fyi.

I posted that it seemed to be the accepted narrative that Kate followed William to St. Andrews but that I'm open to any refutation. That the opposite of being investing in "one true story."

Kate could have also gone there for the education.

Hilarious. She decided to take a gap year and attend a dramatically less prestigious university than the one she was planning on attending for her education?

In domestic ratings, St Andrew's is currently ranked 4th in the UK, while Edinburgh is ranked 12th...

Global ratings rank Edinburgh higher, but heavily lean toward STEM, which she was not pursuing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rankings_of_universities_in_the_United_Kingdom

The current rank has nothing to do with the reputation the school had when she went there 20+ years ago.

And that's a completely bogus ranking. Not even British people consider St Andrews the 4th best school in the country. Oxbridge are unilaterally tops, and then it's some tossup between Imperial, UCL, LSE, etc. Even in its own country of Scotland, Edinburgh and maybe even Aberdeen and Glasgow are better than StA.

Warwick is much more rigorous than LSE. The latter emphasizes "political economics" rather than mathematical based economics.

Many women like her at GW who got a degree in English and then worked at their parents' company in Connecticut or New Jersey until their high school boyfriend finished law, medicine, or business school and then got married. Kate just followed the US model

I think you mean the US followed the UK model. The aristos have been doing that for thousands of years. Camilla was 'launched' and became a secretary but only until her first husband popped the question when she was 25. Diana was an 18 year old kindergarten teacher.

Goes back generations. The interesting thing is the Queen actually was mystified that Kate didn't work the 10 years she was waiting around for William.

Classic DCUM for this to turn into a “which school is better” College and University Discussion thread.

No kidding. She is an educated woman who married into a foreign establishment. Why do you hate her so much? It’s so bizarre.

I personally don’t hate her (although I do dislike William). But her fans are truly insufferable. It’s the worse thing about her.

In the same exact boat. It’s also extremely telling that Kate experienced a huge upsurge in popularity as a result of Meghan becoming the object of all hatred in the eye of the media.

Huh? Kate has always been very popular. She’s shy, unassuming, beautiful and really into her family. Those that constantly pick on her are very strange- she’s like the most benign person out there yet there are pages and pages of criticism of her body, her face, her “work” her public speaking, her family, her relationship…. It’s actually quite misogynistic and really nasty.

Not to criticize her, but she is so not interesting, at least not in her own right, at all

DP here. It’s her job not be interesting. She’s literally not allowed to have a public opinion on anything and she needs to be completely non-offensive. She executes her role perfectly. It’s obviously not for everyone but she is doing the job to which she was hired and doing it better than the BRF could have ever imagined.

Is that why the British royals privately lobbied for Brexit and why the Queen made Brexit possible? Like that? Also is that why William met privately with a Tory leader and why all his staff are ex Tory staffers? Is that why Diana never had an opinion on gay people and those with HIV/AIDS? Oh blast - she totally did and it was while she was POW.

Maybe Kate and William are uninteresting because they’re lazy and spoiled and don’t think they need to do anything and not because of any imaginary protocol.

+1. The monarchy also pretty transparently lobbied against Scottish independence.

Ok fine. Their one job is to try and keep the UK intact.

As such, they may rue their support for Brexit. They may wind up without Northern Ireland and perhaps without Scotland, as well.

I read before that she wasn’t supposed to work as William’s girlfriend and potential wife.

Literally the opposite.

Yes, I remember this. Her work ethic was questionable (and the Queen has a work ethic!) and it contributed to her being thought of as Waity; she did literally nothing with her life besides be at his beck and call when together, or just taking him back repeatedly after his dalliances. It was unbecoming that she had no other life, plans, or interests outside of marrying him.
