I doubt the younger royals are as invested into the Commonwealth as she was and these trips are likely going through the motions to keep the Queen happy rather than any sincerity. The handwriting is on the wall, and they know it. And it's fine. It cuts down on the hassles of future overseas tours.
Interesting re Jamaica is that a few years ago some polling showed the country split in half on whether independence was a good idea or not, and even so only a quarter thought Jamaica would be worse off had it remained a colony of Britain.
The Queen is rapidly aging and I'm starting to think she may not even outlast the year. The dynamics will change greatly once the Queen passes. The Cambridges will become the new Prince and Princess of Wales and much more visible and I do think they, along with Charles and Camilla, will actually do a good job.
The Commonwealth includes Australia and Canada which for some insane reason continue to financially fund the U.K. Royals. If they lose all of them they’ll be worse off than the European royals with less land than many, a larger extended family to continue to provide housing, security and funding for, and still have the most expensive monarchy in Europe.
