Jeffrey -

Happy 50th-

It’s [reassuring?] isn’t it, to have
[waited?] so long, [illegible] all of the years
of learning, and knowing,
adventures and effort, and still
to have your childlike curiosity,
the drive to make a difference,
and the [illegible] of friends—

Bill Clinton

That's much more innocuous than Trump's bday card. And I despised Clinton.

To be fair including the phrase “childlike curiosity” in a birthday greeting to someone he surely knew was a pedophile is incredibly messed up. But he’s not president now and if he was it should damage his reputation and credibility! (Just like trumps much much creepier letter should damage his if anything made sense.)

I'm not saying the Clinton was innocent, but "childlike curiosity" is best understood in the context of a 50th birthday card. It's flattery. It's like saying, "you don't look a day over 40" etc. The message by itself isn't incriminating, though I wouldn't bat an eye if more comes out about Clinton and Epstein.

Yes, that might be true is the greeting wasn’t to a person Clinton must have known was a pedoohile though.

I agree, if I put “childlike wonder” in a birthday card to one of my mom friends for her birthday it’s not implying a wink wink about sexual abuse of children but to Epstein it is.

Try this on for size- “I hope you celebrate your birthday with a nice cigar, uncle Ted!” vs the same message to bill clinton-it obviously lands differently.

Having said that, while I am happy to renounce bill Clinton as a creep the real issue here is Trump!

The more you dig, the deeper you get is a pretty accurate with this one...

The depth that the rich and powerful in the US are implicated in this is wide and broad and the more that I tend to think about it, it seems like it is some sort of bizzarro operation...

How did Epstein develop such a network as a guy who was teaching school to grow into such an influential figure involved in the upper elite of the country? Who were his benefactors that pulled him into this world?

And as far as this book goes, it makes me sick as a father. The photos that I have seen just turn my stomach and they are truly depraved. No matter who they are, they should be face justice - Clinton, Trump, whoever...

Ugh. Just awful.

Oh, I think Clinton is guilty too. Was childlike curiosity a reference to young girls? You could argue that it possibly is. But Trump's letter is overtly creepy and there's no mistaking the context.

Whitney Webb - One nation under blackmail would be a good read if you're looking to dive deeper into this.

I think trump (and trump’s letter) are much worse than the also terrible Clinton but I don’t see how anyone can think it’s a coincidence to put that phrase in a letter to a (well known, even at the time) pedophile.

Clinton’s clearly a creeper but he’s not stupid-if he wasn’t intending a subtle wink about Epstein’s proclivities he would not have used that phrasing.

There is a link to the entire document on the House Oversight Committee website.

In the index to the book, https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1ZSVpXEhI7gKI0zatJdYe6QhKJ5pjUo4b

What are the names of the two Friend contributors that are blacked out?

One comes alphabetically between Black and Brunel. The other comes between Rosovsky and Wexner.

PP here -- Ha, I'm slow! Obviously the second blackout is Trump.

Actually, Trump's name is listed there right before Rosovsky, out of alphabetical order. So it's somebody else.

Oh right! On what grounds does someone other than victims merit redaction?

Perhaps somebody who was underage at the time, or maybe a "friend" that is also considered a victim?
Obviously the names listed under CHILDREN have all been redacted, but I feel so sorry for whatever kids wrote the stuff in this book. It's so f'ed up.

Sarah longwell and JVL recorded a podcast today on the subject. They both believe that there is much more evidence out there implicating Trump. He knew the letter existed and he had two options to explain it. He could have easily explained the birthday note as something that his secretary, put on his desk to sign and that he did not even look at it. Or he could lie and tell America that everything is a hoax.

He likely chose the second because he knows that there is way more information that can come out that is way worse so he is not willing to confirm that he had anything to do with this.

I can’t get this photo out of my mind. Trump didn’t keep little Ivanka away from Epstein.

So how are Republicans dealing with this?
Where did all the social media influencers go, the ones who led the charge on Epstein back when they thought Trump wasn't involved?
Anonymous
Trump says it's a dead issue. Wanna bet?! This is a tsunami.
