I think they were too stupid to "overthrow the government". I bet the vast majority of them have zero clue how government actually works. But, they were violent to people and government property in reaction to a former President claiming a recent election was "rigged". Their actions were illegal and remain very dangerous to democracy. |

Well technically Trump was still head of the government. This was an attempt to keep him in power by stopping the certification of the election and killing the majority of the house and senate. They would have executed any representative they could kidnapped. The FBI and Secret Service were sitting this one out and would have cheered on the executions. That gallows on the Mall would have been in heavy use and on live TV. Wonder how that would have played with the majority of the country? I know in Texas it would have been celebrated. |

The role of the Jan6ers was to force a delay so the House and Senate would have time to push the key state decisions back to the states, or to get Grassley to accept the "fake elector" slates from those swing states who supplied them. It was a three-pronged plan that, again, had Pence left the Capitol, would have worked. Do you not believe our country was thisclose to being lost to a dictator? |

They were trying to. And they actually came fairly close. If they had been able to pressure Pence into accepting the fraudulent electors, it's quite possible the election would have been thrown to a congressional vote, Trump would have that vote, and the actual winner of the election would not have taken office. |

Yes, I actually believe it. And the cases of the various J6 criminals that have been convicted in court upholds that. Now, do I believe that ALL rioters were trying to overthrow the government? No. I believe that of the thousands of rioters, that there were several hundred, maybe one thousand that were truly violent terrorists who were trying to overthrow the government. But Trump sent a mob of over 10K to the Capitol and the mob was there covering for the terrorists. It's very much akin to Hamas hiding amongst the Palestinian population and using the general population as human shields. Likewise, the terrorists used the MAGA mob as shields to hide their actions. There were hundreds who came to the Capitol with military grade gear. There were those who came with zip ties, knives, duct tape and other kidnapping equipment with the intent of kidnapping any Democratic lawmaker they could find, specifically looking for Nancy Pelosi, but willing to kidnap any Democratic lawmaker that could stop the proceedings. There were those who came and broke through windows to enter the building. There were those who broke into offices in the Capitol, looking for lawmakers to either assault or kidnap. There were those who wanted to kidnap the Vice President. There were hundreds of terrorists, some from the Oathbreakers, some from the Proud Boys and from various other domestic terrorist groups who planned to interrupt the counting of the electoral college in order to force a change of the reported electoral college and illegally return President Trump to the White House. The first goal was to stop the counting of the electoral college. The second goal was to change the count. In some cases, they thought they could force VP Pence to accept the false slate of electors from several states which they believed would turn the electoral college vote. In other cases, they thought that Pence could invalidate pro-Biden electors, by refusing to accept the electoral votes on fabricated grounds. So far, there have been nearly 600 that have been convicted of crimes related to January 6. Of those, nearly 200 have been convicted of serious federal felonies, and most of those are ones that have been related to crimes intended to stop the counting of the electoral college and possibly to force a false electoral college count. So, while not everyone who participated was guilty of insurrection and sediction, a significant portion of them were and they were using the mob to hide themselves and to give them cover to actually disrupt the federal election process. |

Do not be surprised by violence closer to the election. As of right now they are going to try and use the courts to delay cert and the House of Reps. In Swing states currently there are over 50 lawsuits by Republicans trying to stop us from voting across the county another at least 50 the plan is to ramp this up like crazy. IF neither Biden or Trump makes it to 270 it goes to the House Trump wins. The US dies a horrific death. |

Anyone know this Bethesda lunatic Steven Patrick Cook? He pled guilty today.
“According to court documents, on Jan. 6, 2021, Cook, along with other rioters, broke through the police line on the west side of the U.S. Capitol building, within the restricted area, at approximately 2:28 p.m. Cook then proceeded to assault at least one U.S. Capitol Police Officer and a Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Officer. Court records say that Cook pushed between and against police officers to further break the line and repeatedly grabbed at police officers’ batons and swung his closed fist at their heads. Police later retreated toward the U.S. Capitol building and began protecting the Lower West Terrace Tunnel entrance. The Tunnel was the site of some of the most violent attacks against law enforcement on January 6th. Rioters at the Tunnel battled police officers for hours as they attempted to storm the Capitol building. At 3:02 p.m., Cook took a gas mask from a nearby rioter, put the gas mask on his head, and pushed his way to the front of the mob of rioters inside the Tunnel. Court documents say that Cook then bull-rushed his way, head-first, toward the police in an attempt to break the police line.
