Then agreed, sometimes players do play down on a lower tier team. Sometimes it’s for number of kids available, sometimes it’s because it’s a continuing evaluation of where they’re at and what level should they be. Nothing wrong with it. |
| yeah just have your top 3 blue players suit up for White team's game, no prob bro |
You all make alot of excuses. |
Everyone knows this - they're just messing with you. |
Doradus is one of the clubs that will prioritize development and not just the fastest player. The U15 boys had a rough loss losing on penalties to SYC's 2nd team but look at their game history (they have beaten the top team numerous times). |
| I guess I am having a hard time seeing how SYC doesn't prioritize player development. The younger teams seem to have performed well at the Virginian even in the top brackets. They must be doing some player development right?? What am I missing something? |
Just watch them play |
| But what are you seeing? I didn't see them play so fill me in. |
Hi EM. You said they "seems to have performed well"; in what ways do you think they performed well? |
|
I am seeing the standings.
U17 boys: 1 win 3 losses U17 girls: DNP U16 boys: 2 losses U16 girls: 1 win 2 draws 1 loss U15 boys: 1 win 2 losses U15 girls: 3 wins 1 loss why are you saying they performed well? how are we supposed to look at it? we say they are just a pressing club (as was said by a coach on different thread), you say they performed well even in the top bracket of a local tournament and they didn't |
playing on a lower level team in not uncommon for someone to work on things or gain confidence. Like getting sent to AAA in baseball for rehab or to work on something but with the expectation you will be back in the majors. |
| PP here. I was talking about the U9-12s... |
It's so hard to generalize from one game, let alone 1-2 teams. I saw one team that played a little cynically and one team that played with some flair. Both had terrific team spirit. |
But if you look at their results in other tournaments at this age group you will see similar results/domination. I believe in one age gropu they won the top three flights. Whether or not this is a better pipeline of talent than in the older age groups, who knows. Does the U9G and U9B style of play (physical, tactical fouls, emphasis on 1v1 skill versus team play/passing) mimic what older SYC age groups were doing at these younger ages? Were the older age groups similarly dominating when they were these ages? Maybe that is the question. Of course, player pools change a lot over time and so too can the coaching staffs. |
SYC U9s-12s are instructed to press press press by their coaches. U9s-12s should be learning the ball, not tactics. That's why the U9s-12s get so many wins, but that's also why their older teams don't. |
