What does everyone think about SYC

Rising U11 (meaning U10) and you are this stressed out? Oh boy.

Unfortunately, the grass won't be greener at another nearby Club.

NCSL is a good option if you are in a good team, with a good coach.

it may. I know of at least one SYC team that does give everyone playing time at U11. Most other clubs do at that age

Are these Syc U10 and U11 kids really traveling to Lynchburg and va beach for a single game??

Yes because they are so elite.

"We went to a less popular club nearby and my kids development improved so much more than the years spent on second teams at SYC. There is no technical development...and the kids who are developing are paying for extra sessions on the side with a private coach. This other club focuses on technical thereby not needing to pay for extra sessions."

Can you name the club? I am wondering if it is the other one we are looking at. I am guessing it is - they are not big, but do a pretty good job with development.

OMG, those kids are so ridiculous talented. My son is in the MLS Next team and he did NOT do or could do half of the things those kids do.

Coach is over the top as well. He think he's Lionel Scaloni directing his team. LOL.

Just avoid the samba boyz coach so your DC won't be a douche player later in life.

SYC is a good club, and we're members who will stay. It's pretty clear to me was the future of the club is; bring in more and more players for two reasons (1. more money, 2. easier to show success of 'player development'). Like I said, we're okay with being here and probably until DC moves on to college. I can't help shake the feeling of a used car salesmen from its leadership and staff (excluding DC's coach).

That's the Samba Coach for you. His older son is on the 2nd team. Meh!

From personal experience, Kids have been asked to play multiple games to help build confidence, not always about the win.

Anonymous wrote:SYC does not have a great culture. I know they have players playing down an age group to get the W. I know because my son was asked to do so on a few occasions. When I asked, I was told it’s ok and no one cares. We felt very uncomfortable but I don’t know the rules that well.

No one is playing kids down. Occasionally kids that are playing up make an appearance with their own age.

Kids are not playing down but the ones playing up of course only play in their own age group when they want the win. The moment your DS isn't the fastest kid on the field, it's over. Doesn't matter if he's never scored or even created a chance.

playing down - meaning playing on a lower tier team in the same age group. like a blue player playing for Orange, orange player playing on White, etc. not playing down groups smarty pants... although I wouldn't put it past SYC either.
