+1

Yes, only one age group per age group.

How many players can be rostered on an ECNL team?

As many that enjoy watching soccer and not playing.

30 rostered to a team
18 rostered for games

Where can you find that?

Call the club and ask this questions.

ECNL page

What is VDA’s plans for teams with over 18 players?

Is VDA trying to have ECNL 2 team?
Will this be a conflict for PWSI and VSA?
Does that mean VDA will roster 30 girls and every weekend the coaches pick who plays in ECNL 1 and ECNL 2?

Great weekend for VDA college showcase.

How many top D1 coaches were there?

None

There were some good D1’s. Lots of good D3’s. The event was organized and DD’s team got exposure. Not every player is going top D1...

Good D1s? Like who? I only saw bottom D1s, and the couple that were there were local anyways.

Good local D1’s, D2’s, D3’s. It was a good 2 day showcase where DD’s team played good competition and I did not have to spend $1k on hotel, food, travel. Are showcases not worth having if UNC and Stanford aren’t in attendance?

Low level D1s, local D3s, sounds like scrimmages to me.

Well in that case, it was a very good weekend of scrimmages in front of college coaches.

Here is the list. Bask in its night and glory

So the answer is yes. Since his DD could not be there, he would rather the event not have been held.

That you are more concerned about the scores in a “showcase” is what is funny. Worry about your kids playing time and if she played well. You’re missing the point of a showcase but with only 3-4 decent local programs there I guess the scores are all you can get excited about.

But the rest of the list speaks volumes about the general interest in VDA players as a whole, but hey, you won some scrimmages.

Then what is all the talk of ECNL 2 or a 2nd team with VA ECNL clubs. Someone mentioned BRYC, how are they doing ECNL 2 and rosters of 30. Is VDA going to follow that?

At BRYC they switch some players every week for games. Best players play just like in college. No one knows what VDA will do because the administration has not yet put it out on the table for everyone. I for one appreciate that, It means there for once is no whistleblower trying to pretend he knows everything spreading gossip around. It means they have people in charge that are making the decisions based on how they want to run their organization, which means that they have control over how they want things to happen and that shows me that VDA as an organization is becoming more professional. Everyone just needs to wait and see and if you don’t like how the club is moving forward then you can make the decision to go elsewhere. Again why is everyone coming on this forum for questions to be answered? Just call the club if you can’t wait.

Yes BRYC has a group of girls that play every weekend. They don't even need to ask. They are starters every week and will be rostered. Then there are some that almost never play ECNL games. They may get to dress out occasionally but get minimal in any minutes. They are there for the training and the hopes of moving up the ladder. And then there is the group in the middle which is where all the drama happens. These are the girls fighting to be on the roster week after week. This is the BRYC way. They need the $$$ of extra players to keep the ship afloat.

Advice to VDA parents - I would not commit to a club that is doing a 30 girl "composite" roster without knowing exactly what you should expect. And be prepared that they may lie to you in order to get your kid. So watch with eyes wide open when you are observing the teams. Do the coaches have "favorites" that are likely to be playing even though they may not be the strongest? Are a bunch of girls better than your DD? Are you going to be happy if they end up being primarily a "practice player". I wish teams would not roster this many girls. They say they need to because of injuries but there really is no need to have 19 extra girls on a team. I think 20 at the younger ages and 22 at the older ages is plenty IMO.

SO ask questions... if BRYC players are coming to VDA next year they may switch to giant rosters as a way to keep VDA players and also accept the BRYC ones wanting to follow.

It must speak volumes for the interest in Richmond, Metro, and Bethesda players too then. Get a life. Nice event with some schools for each level of team playing. Nobody is claiming it’s an amazing event and I’m not sure scores have to do with anything. You can keep that craziness on the Metro/FCV threads.

That confirms what I saw. Not even VCU or Richmond bothered to show. It's fine as a weekend of friendlies, but let's not pretend this was a critical recruitment event. Unless your kid is playing D3. No shame in that, but that's not why players want on DA and ECNL teams.

Thank you for your insights. That's good advice for parents contemplating joining a roster like that. That's how it will play out.

very interesting. What BRYC age groups? If you go on line all of BRYC age groups have the smallest rosters.

GMU, gw, Maryland, jmu, odu, liberty, Richmond, vcu, navy were all there. Also some good d2’s and D3’s. Not every school registers online. There were ecnl, da, Npl, ncsl, ccl teams. Schools for every level. Why are you so mad about this?
