He was 17 and the alleged behavior, while regrettable, stops well short of what reasonably ought to derail a nomination some 35 years later. If you disagree, please detail all the work you’ve been doing over the years to eliminate protections for juveniles to ensure minors are treated as adults by the judicial system.

I am a lawyer. And, the system is not fair if white boys get off for what black boys go to jail for. Plain and simple. Is that too hard a concept for your trumpian mind?

As a lawyer, you, of all people, should understand the concept of “getting off for” an offense.
The person making these claims never filed a complaint. So, tell us, counselor, what is there for this white boy to get off for?

+1000. PP’s race baiting is pathetic.

I am a different pp and a lawyer as well. Judge Kavanaugh is not being prosecuted for this matter. The question is whether he should be given a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court if these allegations are credible. My answer would be no.

I’m a lawyer as well, and I’m quite sure your answer would be no different regardless of the credibility of these allegations (or lack thereof). And you bring the profession into disrepute by tossing basic notions of fairness out the window to further the left’s partisan agenda. You don’t deserve to have a license.

My question is are these allegations credible? We have seen NOTHING to convince us they are.
I say no, they are not.

DP. You don't even want to bother to look beyond the allegation, so your findings are not credible.

Since the accuser has chosen to remain anonymous it’s pretty tough to “look beyond the allegation.”

Their internal opposition research showed BK has a problem here and they were prepared to combat it.

So if their internal research showed that it was an issue, um, maybe it is.

They don't see it as an issue in a legal or character/fitness sense because even if the allegations are true, they don't have a problem with that. The only issue they see is a political one.

Didn't Don McGahn try to warn or convince Trump that they'd have the most problems trying to confirm Kavanaugh?

I had read somewhere that McConnell had thought Kavanaugh would be hard to confirm. I wonder why!

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/07/us/politics/trump-mcconnell-supreme-court.html

the reason mcconnell gave for believing kavanaugh would be hard to confirm, was that there were too many documents about too many sensitive things

i wonder when they did become aware of these sexual assault allegations

They had to have been aware, given they whipped out this letter signed by 65 women at the drop of a hat.

Educate yourself instead of throwing out baseless speculation.....

I don't trust Virginia Hume or Chuck Grassley where this is concerned. Barbara Ledeen is and was on Grassley's staff when all of the illegal activity with Kavanaugh and the Bush Administration took place. They have a vested interest in this matter passing as quickly and quietly as possible.

Just when you think they can't go any lower.....

Who is going lower? Do you know who sent that to Collins' office? Sounds like a GOP stunt to discredit Kavanaugh's opposition.

Oh, sweetie. You know as well as everyone else exactly who sent that - and the other disgusting messages - to Collins' office. Your liberal buddies. Now run along and don't come back unless you have something of substance to contribute.

It's just locker room talk, sweetie. Something you have had absolutely no problem with before, so don't act like it's an issue now. You sanctioned it. You did this to her.

WTF? I've never condoned sending any individual profane messages. You're actually trying to compare apples and oranges. Get a clue.

Waaah! So not fair!!

One day you will be deprogrammed and see the mess you’ve created.

And we might say exactly the same about you. I would be so embarrassed to be referred to as a "liberal" in this day and age. Now run find a safe space.

Thanks for your opinion that we need someone progressive. Unfortunately for you, the losing side doesn't get to choose.

+1 but it does explain the incredibly ugly confirmation process of Kavanaugh

But you're not racist... no, not at all. To you, people will always be grouped according to their race, gender, and sexual orientation. Identity politics at its finest.

That was really creepy and was NOT normal.

What on earth are the two of you babbling about? He brought his daughters - no classmates. And why wouldn't he bring his kids? This is a historic moment, and his whole family is rightfully proud of him. Good for him for letting his daughters see politics in action - and too bad the Democrats and idiot protesters had to make the whole thing so ugly. That's not his fault. That's all on you people.

Anonymous wrote:What a freaking brilliant move on the part of the Dems. This anonymous accuser likely entirely fabricated this. They realized that in the metoo era, there's no proof needed. An accusation means it has to be true. By any means necessary, right?

Wrong.

The Roy Moore Accusers had corroburating witnesses and other evidence. Please name a credible accuser who had no accompanying information.

The Al Franken accusation was idiotic. He shouldn't have resigned, but his own party turned on him because it was an opportunity to virtue signal.

Exactly. The only people I know who insisted Franken should resign were Democrats. As another PP said, they're their own worst enemies.

Perhaps you should go back and read the press from that time. Many prominent Republican politicians said he should resign.

Attempted sexual assault is the allegation.

Umm... 30 years ago? So interesting how this is just coming up now. No matter. It amounts to nothing.

We have the Democrats, who, before the nominee was even named, vowed to do everything they could to stop this nomination.
Chuck Schumer said they would fight it “by all means necessary.”

They protested at the hearings and interrupted with screaming voices, hateful signs and “bloody crotches.”
Cory Booker had his “Spartacus” moment and released supposedly Committee Confidential documents (that weren’t) which turned out to do more to support Kavanaugh than to slander him.
Kamala Harris tried to cryptically make implications that fell flat.
Liberals have tried to say he committed perjury, even though many liberals sites and legal experts have contradicted that.
Liberals have attempted to slander him with a “gambling addiction” with absolutely no evidence of such.
Democrats on the committee tried to intimidate him with thousands of follow up questions - more than any of the past nominees combined.
And, now, at the eleventh hour, an anonymous woman comes forward with a questionable claim. The “letter” has been in the possession of the Democrats since July. Feinstein met with Kavanaugh, questioned him in committee, and this never came up.

So, when all else fails, they are claiming a #MeToo episode.

You have overplayed your hand, liberals. We aren’t falling for your games.

+1,000,000
Applause. End of story.

Merrick Garland sayd "hold my beer."

Cry me a river. Does the GOP want to support a SCOTUS nominee with an alleged attempted rape hanging over him?

Give me a break. This accuser won’t even show her face. We now make national decisions about scurrilous, anonymous accusations? Why did this person not go to the police in 1980 if his “attack” was so horrific? Give me a brake. Seriously.

Exactly. This person had 30 years to report this incident but chose not to. Sorry, but I'm not taking it seriously. Not even a little bit.
