Why is Blake Lively so overrated?

Holy sh*t.

This seems desperate and I can’t see how it ends well for her.

Why do you say that?

I despise her but don’t necessarily think she’s doing this to save her reputation. Even horrible women can be harassed. It’s still wrong. We’ll see how this plays out. One person’s career is about to be ruined, maybe more than one. Still, if there was harassment, it needs to be dealt with severely. That industry isn’t healthy so nothing would surprise me. I don’t know why parents still sacrifice their kids to the fame god.

Agree. While I'm not a Blake fan, she might be telling the truth with this.

If she had said he raped her or touched her inappropriately or something I would 100% be on her side. But the kind of accusation she’s making, it makes it hard to believe she was really ever in danger or felt powerless, considering she was an executive producer of the film. It seems to me, a backlash move because she got a lot of bad publicity over the film. Which is a shame, because I enjoyed the movie a lot and thought she was really good in it.

He was the director, there were many other producers and writers involved. If he had suggested a sex scene that she didn’t want it obviously didn’t make it in there, so I’m not sure why she would sue. She won that battle, assuming there was one.

She was the more powerful one on the film, especially considering how influential her husband was in its making and promoting. He hired his Deadpool editor to do the final cut. He wrote scenes that were used in the film. He did that funny skit with her other costar to market it. There was a lot of cross promotion between Deadpool and it ends with us.

She was not powerless. It seems like she had an annoying and possibly inappropriate and even insufferable coworker in Justin, but suing is going to bring a lot of parts of making the film out in the open again, and from what I understand, she also acted inappropriately by not showing up, delaying filming, and seemingly losing interest once the strike happened. There’s also speculation that Ryan violated the writers strike by writing the rooftop scene. She got a lot of criticism for the way she promoted the film, too, the light romcom touch she took, and the way she used to promote her hair care products and her and Ryan’s drink lines.

I’m not particularly on Justin’s side, and I bet he was difficult to work with and I have a lot of sympathy for Blake as I’m sure she has to put up with a lot of crap being a woman in Hollywood. But this just seems like an odd move and I just could see a lot of bad publicity coming from it.

Who knows how it will all play out though.

I'm inclined to think so. I'm confident she can back up these assertions, though a few seem spurious (weight--he had to pick her up after all). I think it's telling the cast backs her up not him. They must have witnessed it. I wish I were more surprised but sometimes the most "woke" guys end up being the biggest d*cks.

My guess is the battle between two big egos for creative control got nasty, but if she can back up even half of this, she'll win.

My guess is that Ryan is all over this. She was probably inclined to let it go and move on and focus on her businesses and he is a control freak and is egging this on. Telling that the articles mention him in the lawyer meetings.

It will likely lead no where - he will countersue for defamation and they will both settle. Will likely damage both of their careers.

She’s pissed her reputation was tarnished online. I’m on TikTok and she got a lot of criticism and that probably affected her stupid hair brand and now she’s pissed and wants to retaliate. I like how his lawyer said she aims to “fix her negative reputation”—I’m sure that got under her thin skin.

I think the best course of action for her would have been to move on, but I get the urge to want revenge and bring down his reputation too.

Blake should be following the golden rule of PR for rich privileged idiots- never complain, never explain.

Looks like the PR firm the studio and Baldoni are still working - in this thread - to trash Blake.

gift link to ny times detailing how they used MSM and social media

It is unclear exactly how Mr. Wallace operated. There are references in emails to “social manipulation” and “proactive fan posting,” and text messages cite efforts to “boost” and “amplify” online content that was favorable to Mr. Baldoni or critical of Ms. Lively.

“We are crushing it on Reddit,” Mr. Wallace told Ms. Nathan, according to a text she sent Ms. Abel on Aug. 9.

The next day, one of Ms. Nathan’s employees texted, “We’ve started to see shift on social, due largely to Jed and his team’s efforts to shift the narrative.”

Yes, this was clear. I think she has a strong case and will prevail. He created a toxic environment on set, and after.

The author of the book also had issues with this guy. It seems like he’s at minimum a jerk and maybe even a predator. It’s true that lively is powerful but that’s exactly why she should come forward, if he treats her like this imagine how he treats people less powerful than him.

Agree, coming out with this so long after the fact comes across as a huge K move. She should have just let the backlash die down, the public would have forgotten and she could move on with her career.

No, she's suing now because she has direct evidence of the coordinated campaign to ruin her - thousands of pages or text messages and emails.

On Aug. 16, Ms. Nathan shared the Daily Mail article headlined “Is Blake Lively set to be CANCELLED?” with references to ‘hard to watch’ videos and a ‘tone deaf’ promotional Q. and A.

“Wow. You really outdid yourself with this piece,” Ms. Abel responded.

“That’s why you hired me right?” Ms. Nathan replied. “I’m the best.”
