I’m sure that’s what the kid wanted to do and that’s fine, but when TC super dads come on to a public forum and try to generate buzz by talking trash and forget to mention the details, that makes him and TC look like clowns. |
Hold on...playing lacrosse for fun!!??!! My son is playing lacrosse so I can relive my glory days when we didn't have lacrosse and I never played but I know everything about the sport now. I am positive my son feels the same way. After every game when all the kids run to the goalie my son runs to me and high fives me and says "that was for you dad" and I say "you missed that GB and slid too late, you have embarrassed me in front of the other dads." |
| Passing on some wisdom. Top Caliber is definitely on the rise, but that does not mean VLC is any worse. Coach Solomon is a very good coach. But, take caution as any Head HS coach who advises his own players to play for his Club team, is not creating a recipe for long term success. Look at the track record of Region/State Champs - Oakton, Robinson, Chantilly all pull from multiple clubs though some may have more #s than others. When you look at private schools, it's not even close as GZ, GP, SSSA, GP, PVI, SJ head coaches have no linkage or ties to club programs yet all have become nationally recognized programs. |
Good point. Ironically, that was the point made in the original post - not anti VLC, just recognizing that Solomon is a talented coach, there is more talent now than ever, the days of one club dominating are over, and Top Caliber is on the rise. The rest of the posts in this trail are mostly thin skinned non-responsive rants |
Agree with the first part, but the idea that top private schools do NOT have a link to specific area clubs is bogus. |
| I think both posts have it backwards. The HS teams get better because of the club kids playing year round. Not the club gets better by having private or public kids. They key to the club success is good relations with the rec clubs. The top kid at 10u NVYLL team goes to a particular club and brings his friends. |
Glad you are not anti-VLC posting on the "feedback on VLC" thread. Glad to hear that the TC program is on the rise. Question, how is coach Solomon's 9-4 score v. VLC relevant to this topic or the point you are trying to make? Should you create a Top Caliber thread? Don't you think TC should beat another team like blackwolf or Cavalier and then post on the VLC page? Just asking for a friend. |
Key words: “Head Coaches” |
If you really believe this you are a fool. |
Certainly Bullis and now GP has links to DCE as their program directors were and are on the coaching staffs. Who else or are you just sticking to head coaches? NL's directors are the head coaches at The Heights but NL's rosters have only a few students on all the high school age teams and I wouldn't call H a recognized program, far from it. Landon's coaches aren't affiliated I don't think but would love to hear about others. |
There is affinity w/local club lacrosse and private schools, NL is very cognizant w/ its GZ pipeline, DCE has lots of Bullis players, Madlax has had top athletes attend Landon, lots of VLC kids play for PVI, etc. Perhaps you can point out which schools don't a significant club participation w/ its best players - that would be useful info for parents not needing club to develop and advance their kid's skills and athletic future. |
| Coaches don't care where you play club. If you can fit into their culture and produce then you will have a spot on the team. |
The “slickness” is gone. Social media lags. Miss you Mr L! Poaching is going the other way as VLC is now losing players to places like TC and Evergreen. That would have been laughable a few years ago but is now the reality. Recruitment has been so-so if you look at the quality of the schools rather than just numbers. Too bad. They were a good alternative to the d-bags. Maybe the lesson learned is that ya gotta be a d-bag to run a successful club lacrosse team |
Are you talking about high school coaches or college coaches? |
This is so far from reality it is like an onion article. However I do not think the top caliber mom who posted meant for it to be. The club is going down because Mr L left? ? |
