How many times can a shark be jumped?

UC Davis is an excellent, all around school, with a charming college town setting, without toxic, competitive students.

In California, it is considered too far from the coast, from the mountains, from SF, even though it would be considered close to them if it were on the east coast.

Davis is a great school. Better than many overpriced privates like wake, emory, and georgetown.

UC Davis-
1160- 1370/25-31
Emory
1470-1550/32-35
Georgetown
1390-1550/30-35

UC Davis is overrated, Emory and GU underrated.

Davis a great school but not in same category by a mile.

According to USNWR, it is. How does your data/analysis differ?

Davis is not T25. Thats Emory's and GUs category.

24 to 32 is not a big difference

Rankings work in tiers. You clearly have no idea how hard it would be or how much money it would need to raise to add 8 points to its ranking to be where the other 2 are.

All of the publics are 5 spots too high.

Not Virginia or William and Mary though. William and Mary should be about 10 higher. Merced? 40 lower? Any other UC school, 10 lower. Including Berkeley and UCLA.

Is this a morning projection/self-affirmation, Stuart Smalley? What does your mirror say?

15 to 24 isnt a big numerical difference either. But I assume you won't say Emory and Columbia are peers. Ironically Emory and Berkeley are peer schools with similar selectivity. Davis is not nor ever will be.

1) Attract more poors to your school (or Questbridge kids fraudulently claiming to be poor)
2) subsidize starting salary for the poors after graduation
That’s the ranking, folks.

What are you even saying? This makes no sense.

Also, quit trying to lump UVA in with UCLA and Michigan.

William and Mary is underrated. Virginia residents are so lucky.

You clearly have no idea how to read rankings. Their is not an 8 point difference.

wrong

Not wrong both are better and harder to get into.

Pick a random kid at a local Catholic high school and ask them whether ND or Georgetown is a harder admit.

This. At my kid's HS, both schools have high acceptance rates relative to national stats. Georgetown is always a higher acceptance rate every year. Last year Georgetown was 44% and ND was 34%.

Georgetown also didn't use the Common App, which means kids are self-selecting out of applying which impacts that number.

Privates and Publics should be ranked separately like LACs.

Different poster here and actually I would say they are peers. As would any rational adult aside from the college rankings obsessed nut jobs.
They are both R1 reearch universities with top notch kids, fantastic professors, lovely campuses, deep resources, excellent pre-med and pre-law results, well-trod paths to Wall Street, high incomes after graduation, etc.
I have no connection to either (well actually my kid was admitted to Columbia and waitlisted in perpetuity to Emory but attends neither) but I'm a rational human. Emory vs Columbia will not impact anyone's life one iota.

Agree. They are often different applicant pools anyway.
