Israel opposed the Iran nuclear deal because it only delayed Iran getting a nuclear weapon, and they knew they’d eventually have to deal with the underlying problem, which is that Iran - an oppressive regime that is despised within its own country btw - wants to annihilate Israel and was building the weapons to do so. America does not want Iran to have nuclear weapons nor did any president want to start another war in the Middle East on their watch, so they all tried diplomacy as long as possible (until Trump threw the deal away during his first term.) Iran has been reaching near appropriate thresholds for nuclear weapons as well as the long range missiles to deliver them. Even the UN who is so pro Palestinian and Arab admits that Iran has not been compliant with their nuclear obligations.

You just seem hell bent on blaming Israel for everything, no matter who the enemy is, so it’s impossible to have an actual dialogue about this. Nobody wants Iran to have nuclear weapons, except the useful idiots on dcum who can’t see past their hatred of Israel.

Bibi might have done this because the issue is more pressing for Israel than the us, he wants to drag the us into this war, or he just saw the opportunity in Iran and with a weak president like Trump. Israel attacked Iran because they view Iran as a regional power. It is not about nuclear weapons, it is not about terrorism, it is not about Iran’s support Palestinians, etc. Bibi has wanted to attack Iran for years and years. Before Iran to was Iraq. Iran is just the next one up for the Israelis. After Iran(don’t think Israel will beat Iran- too big and too far away), the next country Israel will attack is Turkey. They have already started the propaganda process.

It’s about their survival. As was iraq. Iraq, like Iran, had a nuclear weapon program and the UN had flagged concerns about their non compliance along with biological and chemical weapons in the years leading up to the invasion.

We can question how much the US needs to be involved in these matters to maintain stability and how much our best interests align with Israel’s (which is fairly straightforward given our dependence on middle eastern oil supply), but it seems pretty obvious why Israel wouldn’t want countries that want to annihilate them to have nuclear weapons.

Israel’s current right wing leadership is doing it no favors, but overall the country is the most western, stable and least radical in a region teaming with radical Islam, unstable governing infrastructure, corruption, civil wars and terrorism. Israel is fighting radicalism on every border and more broadly in the region. Do the wars seem unpleasant and tragic? Yes. Is Israel’s right wing also permitting upsetting settler action in the west bank? Yes. The truth is nuanced - Israel is not a perfect country and like the US, has been badly damaged by extreme right leadership, but it’s still the most stable one in the region.
