So people need to be more open to mediocre bad music? If you can objectively look back and say the 80s/90s music wasn’t actually that good, surely people can look at TS and objectively say it’s also not all great. |
| I am a genxr who turns the volume all the way up for all too well 10 minute version screaming my lungs out, banging the steering wheel. |
Okay, she has upbeat and downbeat songs. Great. |
Right. My mom is a Boomer and likes a lot of newer music. Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, etc. She doesn’t like Taylor Swift and I don’t think that’s because my mom is simply being narrow-minded. |
Sounds kinda like that sweater song! |
It's interesting. I hear a lot of variety in the songs on TTPD and some of them evoke a lot of emotion, most especially Robin. Maybe we just have different definitions of variety and pick up the sounds/themes differently because of the different music we appreciate. I like Radiohead just fine but they don't resonate with me like they did in the 90s. The Beatles are mainly meh to me and always have been. |
Yep. It’s the obvious misogyny and impossible standards Taylor is held to that get some of us riled up. |
Haha. That is me with the bridge in Smallest Man Who Ever Lived. |
I am PP and was about to post that I do the same with smallest man who ever lived! |
Peter is a waltz. |
Please stop with this nonsense. Critics have listed plenty of other female artists that they adore. |
The problem is when you cast any criticism of her as misogyny. |
You mean a song in 3/4?! What innovation!!!! |
Not any. But certainly some. And anytime it’s brought up it’s cast as rabid crazy hysterical women defending her. |
The entirety of TTPD is actually amazing to me. Goes way beyond Fortnight which is good but not close to the best. People always talk about Folklore, but I am actually partial to Evermore. Other songs of note that I love from Midnights are Maroon, Snow, and Dear Reader. Clean and This Love from 1989. The radio hits I really love are Style, Welcome to NY. Actually really do NOT like Blank Space, Anti-Hero. |
