I believe so but someone posted the policy above.

My older child's high school must have just lost a learning disabilities teacher within the past few days. I know, it's underpaid and too much work and us parents are miserable, but yikes!

This. I am shocked how many SPED teachers are still needed at our highly sought after Reston school-yikes is right.

The morale on the fcps employee Facebook page is LOW. Tons of large class sizes and complaints about having a lot of resource teachers but not enough classroom teachers.

A lot of vacancies still and a lot of teacher trainees....

FCPS and gatehouse doesn't care.

FCPS sought a 6% increase in salary to put its teacher compensation in line with the surrounding counties, but, in part because residents balked at the proposed property tax increase, and voted down previously proposed meal taxes, FCPS teachers ended up with a 4%. So. FCPS teachers remain among the worst compensated teachers in the DC metro area. Plenty of teachers are applying for jobs in the area…. in other school districts.

Well there was also a proposal to give teachers a higher increase but a lower or no increase to administrative salaries that was voted down by the school board. Bureaucracy is gonna get their money.

I’m a substitute and we receive emails from the sub office requesting long term subs. Some days they send out about a dozen and most of them are for some type of special education position.

Yup and it will continue all throughout the year.

I found this guy on insta. He's a principal and has some great tips for all of you FCPS principals that need some help on how to support your teachers better.

They should listen to this guy, he has good points. I posted this and am a parent, not a teacher. I like how in one of his videos he says he walks around all day and pops in if teachers need a break and he will pull out kids that are disruptive and take them away. Seems like small things that can have a big impact. I hope principals take notice. Our school lost a lot of great teachers this year and I am afraid unless the principal starts making some changes that we will lose more next year.
