FCPS sought a 6% increase in salary to put its teacher compensation in line with the surrounding counties, but, in part because residents balked at the proposed property tax increase, and voted down previously proposed meal taxes, FCPS teachers ended up with a 4%.  So. FCPS teachers remain among the worst compensated teachers in the DC metro area.  Plenty of teachers are applying for jobs in the area…. in other school districts.[/quote]

Well there was also a proposal to give teachers a higher increase but a lower or no increase to administrative salaries that was voted down by the school board.  Bureaucracy is gonna get their money.[/quote]
