They offered it - we declined because I want to get our next one closer to home. They later sent an email with a special link to sign up for a second shot, if you want to.

Are they offering appointments for the 2nd shot over the Thanksgiving holiday/weekend? Or having people push the second dose out past that?

The three weeks is only a minimum, not a requirement.

And actually lots of research is showing that longer spacing is better so push it out.

We went to Tysons this morning and the nurse said we'd receive a link to schedule our second dose through email/text. She mentioned that they wouldn't be open on 11/26 and that is was fine to make the appointment for a later date. You can also schedule for a different location if you want...which I appreciate because I wasn't looking forward to going to Tysons right after Thanksgiving.

Anyone gone to the VA DOH Alexandria locations and can confirm they have the vaccine available?

Been waiting in Takoma DC since 2:30 pm (starts at 3:30) was a line ahead of me - we got one of the last 10 spots and there’s still a huge line of people behind me hoping to get in. Those who are waiting for it to die down… good choice. I bet it will be calmer in a week.

Are you all just skipping school to get these vaccinations? I'm really at the point of giving up. When they want my kids to have it, they can make it easy.

DC didn't have school today, so I took my kid to a Virginia site.

Frustrated that it's so hard to cancel an appointment. I made a Walgreens appointment in Cheverly for DD for next week (relatively far from us) but then was able to get a Health Center one in Silver Spring for today. I tried to cancel the first Walgreens appointment but they wouldn't let me keep the second one (which is in our town). I guess they account for no-shows but it seems crazy that they make you register as a guest for the kids vaccine and then the appointment phone system isn't fine-tuned enough to cancel one of two appointments. I finally was able to talk to a person but they were like just show up for the appointment you want.

We were gonna head up there right now. Are they out of doses? Not with trying?

It’s a terrible system. I called Walgreens today to cancel because we got a sooner appt elsewhere and the guy was like “okay don’t worry about it goodbye.” and he hung up. I mean I tried but he didn’t even take our name or the day/time.

Anyone go to the Alexandria pop up clinic in the Fine Arts Building? Just want to be sure they have doses before going.
