DA vs ECNL vs everything else

Not telling them they'll be cut to try and get them to stay on a lower team. Starting new programs with DA in their name for 6 year olds. It's all about how they can add or retain revenue or save costs on fields.

It doesn't mean they don't develop players. Players learn every time they kick a ball no matter where they are. It doesn't mean they aren't good marketers or invest in paying well for successful coaches. It doesn't mean the coaches aren't doing their best to teach players and help them get college scholarships.

But it's a business first, second and third, and unfortunately the same can be said for almost every other club.

Ummm, most Youth soccer clubs are actually non-Profit, unlike a for- Profit company like FCV. FCV is a company, not a “club”. Start there and their motives make more sense.

So how does a for profit get field space in Loudoun County? They form or partner with a non profit and double roster players who play for free on the books of the non profit but pay the for profit and so on. Back to all decisions they make are about financial survival with survival = making payroll. They make huge commitments on payroll then have to hustle to generate the revenue to pay those bills. "What can we add today to charge money for so we can cover payroll?"

Loudoun was built on a similar thing with DG's company being paid millions in huge block invoices to run the travel program at Loudoun totally under the non profit banner of Loudoun.

And they're not alone and there's nothing wrong with it if it follows the law and delivers a product. But if it's not following the law, the misuse of non profit funds belong to the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

non profit rules were created reward organizations for serving the community. These youth sports clubs push those rules to the absolute limit and probably cross the line in so many ways. Clubs used to be 95% local kids just playing in their neighborhood. Clubs today are full blown businesses, whether they file taxes under a for profit or non profit designation.

This is not about player development for any of them. Parents who are debating player development versus recruiting players here are missing the plot.

This is why FCV served it's clients every well over the years, and at least they're somewhat up front about being a for profit. They are a college placement service. You pay to get in if you're good enough and they help you pay for college. It's free market and it works most of the time. And the threat of that business being taken away if the teams are no longer able to offer college access causes grown men who've made careers out of this business to say and do very questionable things that were never part of anyone's ideas about how to serve a community. And they aren't alone. It is most of the "elite clubs" business around the usa.

The TD at our “non-profit” club drives around in a nice Mercedes. Don’t let the status fool you, it’s all about getting as many players possible writing checks to the club. Everything else is secondary.

I’m not trying to rag on FCV about losing players (that happens to every club) but rather just curious what all of the older DA and ECNL teams will look like next year, and too impatient to wait until August for rosters to be posted.

FCV DA rosters for next season are on their website. Looks like the rumors I heard about the goalie and forward leaving were wrong.

VDA also has ECNL rosters posted.

HOW many FCV 03 DA players were retained to play 03/02 DA next year?

25 percent?
50 percent?
75 percent?

I'm guessing 40 to 50 percent at best.

So look around this upcoming season and make sure you say goodbye to half the team. I promise you, no tears will be shed by staff. So stop with the club loyalty BS.

How is that different than any other club? Aren't all the aged groups merging for every club?

It's not different. I'm laughing at the club loyalty by the posters. You all love the club more than the club loves you...and you're the paying customer. Go figure.

Just an example. You can use any DA in the country. Since FCV has been mentioned, we will use them.

The 04 team is next to merge. Half that team is gone in a year.

And? So what? The same thing happens at all the big clubs at the highest levels. Huge turnover from recruiting all while touting development. It is game man and not unique to FCV or any other club. Sorry your DD wasn’t asked to return to FCV but Jesus man, get over it and focus on her new team.

Looks like only two former McLean 04s on that roster not 3. So whoever posted that doesn’t know sh*t.

Geez, so a TD does not deserve to drive a nice car? These guys preside over enough revenue to have nice things.

All this talk about VDA and FCV rosters being posted. Yet, no rosters are posted.

Am I missing something... Or are you missing something...hummm

Or are you too stupid to figure out where they are posted?

Because I found them and told everyone they’re available, and at least one other person looked at them to see how many McLean players switched.

And yes, I could just post the link but I don’t feel like indulging someone who says I may be missing something instead of just admitting they can’t find it

Don’t drag Loudoun in with this garbage talk about FCV. The club was built way before DG, as in 1978. Do the math fool.

#1. I did admit that I couldn't find it
#2. Try taking some medication to help with your cramps.
