Charlie Kirk shot at Utah Valley University

Virtually none because both sides are not the same.

I completely condemn the shooting of Charlie Kirk.

I would ask you what you find written by or spoken by Melissa Hortman or her spouse that advocated hateful attitudes that are in any way commensurate with the kinds of things Charlie Kirk said. No one deserves to be murdered for things they say. People can be held accountable socially for things they say. They can be disliked for things they say. People who are hateful and spread hate are generally not mourned. No one is obligated to lionize any person who is a lousy person, even when they are dead.

Meanwhile, I would like to see your condemnation in kind for every single GOP political leader, including POTUS, and every single RW political commentator or every single RW person on social media who made unfounded accusations and CALLED FOR RETRIBUTION AND VIOLANCE against all people on the "left" and Democrats over these past few days and who made fun of or light of the attack on Paul Pelosi, etc. etc.

No, both sides are not the same. One side's leadership consistently calls for efforts to address gun violence and mental health issues and the other shuts it down every time. One side values guns and money more than people.

Your hypocrisy is loud and clear. Get off your soapbox.

Huh? Because men and women of other races never murder with guns?

I concur with PP. White men are too impulsive and emotional.

White men are too impulsive and emotional? What are the excuses for everyone else who commits murder? The internet perpetuates these shootings and almost glorifies these shooters. We need to stop discussing the why and how and f’ing change something.

Perhaps because he was indeed spreading hate?

I have family members who are MAGA. They do indeed have a moral compass and are against the spreading of hate.

From the guardian Suspect's high school classmate says Robinson was the only 'leftist' in a family of 'very hard' Republicans
Anna Betts

In a phone interview on Friday, someone who said they were friends with Robinson in high school, who wanted to remain anonymous, said that the suspect was “pretty left on everything” and was “the only member of his family that was really leftist”.

“The rest of his family was very hard Republican,” the friend said.

Around sophomore year, the friend said, Robinson became more extreme in his political views and would “always just be ranting and arguing about them”.

The friend said that they played video games together a lot in high school and noted that the bullet engraving with the arrows was a reference to Helldivers 2 – which we mentioned earlier. He said that the arrows specifically were in reference to “calling in a big bomb that exists” in the game “called the 500 kilogram”.

When the friend saw the news on Friday, he said that he was shocked. “I knew he [Robinson] had strong political views, but I never thought it would even go near that far.”

The friend said that he has not spoken to Robinson in years and began to drift apart toward the end of high school. Another high school classmate separately told the Guardian that the friend and Robinson were close in school and would play video games.

Oh wow. A former high school classmate that hasn't seen him for years. Case cracked wide open.

So what evidence has the news reported other than this that you have read? Post the link.

Absolutely hilarious that MAGAs are trusting an anonymous source in the Guardian.

Absolutely hilarious democrats aren’t trusting an anonymous source in the Guardian.

They trust every anonymous source otherwise.

It’s so typical that liberals - who constantly cite the Guardian to defend their narrative - call it out when it fails to do so. Same with Fox News. They cite it when it’s useful to them and trash it when it’s not.

This is the best information published about the shooter and his political beliefs.

You really are desperate for this to be a leftist. You’re just so painfully naive.

Five years ago he was the "leftist" in a family of Utah mormons with a LEO father. That's like 95 percent of the political spectrum, and may have no bearing on what he is today. If he is a leftist to this day, that doesn't mean it's anything more than a weird guy obsessed with video game memes. Hardly suggests a liberal conspiracy or incitement to violence.

Murderers aren't righties or lefties or conservatives or progressives or Democrats or Republicans. They are murderers! Step out of your bubbles and get the big picture, people!

Apparently everyone is far too brainwashed to see the larger picture.

I, and many leftists, think Trump is fascist. It's really pretty obvious that he is. I don't support violence against Trump, Charlie Kirk, Venezuelan people in boats, Gazans, or anyone really.

The shooter thought Charlie Kirk was fascist. Because he was a follower of Nick Fuentes and a groyper who was in a small, radicalized online right wing incel crowd.

We both use the same word, but have very, very different philosophies.

The Guardian published a statement, a testimony. They are reporting what was said by someone. The fact that someone made the statement is news. That does not mean that the statement is true. Newspaper publish what so and so "say" all of the time.

If no other witnesses have come forth, that does mean that by default the classmate's statements are true.

The suspect’s grandmother says otherwise.
