| I have not seen anything else anywhere about a missing red car. They sent out an APB on the Porsche when its whereabouts were unknown for 4 hours. I have to believe this is an error. |
Maybe they were so ticked that "all" they got from the S family was 40k that now they were going to go rob someone else and this time steal a bunch of their things as well in case they didn't have cash on hand, since the group had recently learned that even rich people don't typically keep cash on hand |
I think they needed a car and there is a truck rental close to the Motel they had checked in to. It was convenient and no one will be looking for a box truck right. |
You mean they were dropping the truck off in NE? I thought they got it in N.Y. and caravaned down 95 |
It doesn't say the red car was missing. In fact, you could see it sitting in the garage in the post fire news reports. |
| I thought he took a livery cab down from NYC? |
The charging documents said that the money was placed in a red sports car. I assume that was the red Mosler. The charging documents describe the police officer looking in the car and not seeing any money. So, the red sports car in which the money was placed is not missing. Another poster here has mentioned seeing a red Audi in photos. If that poster is correct, then the red Audi is also not missing. That leaves two possibilities: 1) the police described the Audi as a "sports car" and the Mosler wasn't the car in which the money was placed; or 2) there is a third red car that is missing. I would be shocked if the Mosler is missing and nobody has mentioned it because that is a very visible and unique car. |
This could be it...this theory is plausible. A sick version of the game "Telephone" where a person whispers something to someone, who whispers what s/he hears to the next person, who passes what s/he thinks s/he heard to the next person...hence the "Wheeee I get to handle big cash money!" text info passes in a garbled manner to DW, who heard from a friend of a friend of a former colleague etc., so he learns of the money drop but not the correct timing thereof. As a parent of three young boys, I'm haunted by this case. It feels like if we figure out how it happened, we can unravel the timeline, rewind it, and then replay it with a different ending in which all four innocent lives are saved. Sounds cuckoo, I know. Just being candid. |
Misprision of a felony. People get charged with this all the time in federal court. |

--> I feel EXACTLY the same way. |
| The pictures the assistant took were just of the inside of the car. I don't really see that as a big deal. It's not like the cars are a secret or like he took a picture of the license plate. The pic of the money seems like a big deal and also the fact that he was "let go" from his previous job. |
OR option (3) - the author of the article made a mistake. Read too hastily the fact that the cops looked in the garage for a red bag, a manila envelope, and cash and found nothing. |
|
There is at least one article linked from here that states there is a red car missing.
What about the Bentley? I agree about the assistant's 2 car pictures not being a big deal. It was discreet enough! Wint took a livery cab from NYC to DC at a cost of several hundred dollars after he found out he was wanted. Probably to rejoin his friends/co conspirators. They found $10k in cash and over $10k in money orders. These idiots were driving around from convenience store to convenience store exchanging the 'dirty money' for money orders. Completely idiotic low class, 0% sophisticated thing to do. |
| Can y'all please stop referring to the guy as DW? That is an acronym with wide usage on this site and an entirely different meaning. Please call him Wint or DDW. He ain't nobody's "dear wife". |
