Is Dark Matter Where the Seven Heavens Lie?

I know that the Quran says there are seven Heavens. I think the Bible says the same thing too. Someone please correct me if I am mistaken. I'm not sure what Judaism or other faiths say about Heaven.

However, here is physicist Kaku describing dark matter, and that it is a vast area completely invisible to us except that we can detect its gravity. He seems to be suggesting that there are multiverses there and they are parallel universes to ours.

I watched this short video but saw no clear proof that dark matter is where the seven heavens may be. However, I am intrigued.

Anyone hear about this?

You confusing science with religion. The holy books of Judaism, Christianity and Islam were written centuries before anyone knew anything about physics. there is no connection.

Is the idea of separate levels of heaven widespread among believers?

Dante wrote in the 1300s about the 9 circles of heaven (and the 9 circles of hell and the 9 circles of purgatory-I've read them all). This isn't really accepted in Christianity today, although it still makes for pretty poetry.

I thought the bible does speak about 7 heavens thi?

You should read the His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman. It's an awesome series and it's all about dark matter and parallel universes and it ties it to religion.

You are depending on the god of the gaps. This always fails, as science fills in more details.

Pretty crappy writing, unfortunately. I don't just mean the unsubtle atheist message, although that's part of the overall crappiness of his writing.

If your interested in other faiths, in Hinduism there are 7 upper planes of consciousness -higher worlds (heavens) and 7 lower. They are called Lokas.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loka

Multiple universe is completely within the scope of Hindu cosmology.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu_cosmology

It is ingrained to think of the world and existence as in the billions. Not as in the thousands as is the case with some religions. As a result, Hindus would not bat an eye at these concepts because they do not challenge the belief system at all.

Actually, quantum physics and Vedantic Hinduism have always gone hand in hand. A great deal can be found on google if your interested. Physics was known prior to the holy books above, just not known all over.

The scientific researchers that are known to be the founders of Quantum Physics-Niels Bohr, Erwin Schrodinger, and Werner Heisenburg-have all written about the correlations between Quantum Physics and the Vedic texts.

With regards to the universe in which particles are represented by wave functions, Schrodinger said, “The unity and continuity of Vedanta are reflected in the unity and continuity of wave mechanics. This is entirely consistent with the Vedanta concept of All in One.” Heisenburg said " Quantum Theory will not look ridiculous to people who have read Vedanta."

This idea of quantum physics while still debated, is more accepted today than it was 100 years ago, even just 30 years ago. So it is understandable that not everyone accepted it 1000s of years ago.

I loved those books. To each his own.

Wait, I am confused, so does the trilogy have an atheist msg or does it tie science to religion?

The message is that God is dead. As I remember, the kids literally give the decrepit old guy the final shove, or maybe he dies in front of them. Anyhoo, it's Pullman's wishful thinking about the demise of faith.

No, the trilogy is not tying science to religion in any way -- 14:34 was pulling your leg, or something. The books actually have the opposite intention, of showing that science and faith are at war. It's been several years since I read the trilogy, but I don't remember much actual science in the books. The science itself, such as it is, is fun Harry Potter stuff.
