Why hasn't Kavanaugh stepped down? Where did he get the idea that a wall of denials will work? Was it during his years chasing the Clintons with Ken Starr? Running interference for Bush/Cheney? Or more recently with Trump ("you've got to deny deny deny.")?
McConnell and McGahn need to step in. It's not like Trump will pull out. And clearly Kavanaugh won't either. He's brilliant, and political, as his testimony demonstrated. He dedicated his life to this goal, and did amazing, and was days away. It's impossibly hard. But he has to get out of the spotlight now. There are a lot of people sticking up for him -- and he owes it to them to let them off the hook. He owes it to his poor family, who would be forever changed by a hearing. And he owes it to his spot on the DC bench, at Harvard, and in all the circles he hopes to still move within. It's indecent at this point. It's not all his fault. GOP, CRC, Federalist Society - the many ways they have botched the past week would be hilarious if it wasn't so depressing. Trying to speed up the hearing to beat Mayer & Farrow. Ventry. Whelan. Senators using 280 characters and Fox hits to fit every toe they can into their mouths. All this before Avenatti showed up. Midterms are exactly 6 weeks away. Amy Coney Barrett is ready. She is from nowhere near Bethesda. She is almost a decade younger. And yes, she is a She. 301 is done. Time to do 312. |

Dr. Ford's unredacted letter to Sen. Feinstein now public. Nothing much new. "I have not knowingly seen Kavanaugh since the assault. I did see Mark Judge once at the Potomac Village Safeway, where he was extremely uncomfortable seeing me." |
Won't the GOP want to go back and redo the background investigations on the next candidate just to avoid looking like they are complicit with another gang rapist? Sure, but the new nominee will be a woman. I hope Amy is getting all her ducks in order. +1 |
What’s up with the weird font? And, this letter reads like it was written by a child. |
Who didn’t know more allegations were coming? It’s the Dem playbook. The Avenatti claim is so over the top, I believe they have overplayed their hand with this one.
And, the Ramirez claim is turning out to be bogus. Seems she shopped her story around to several media orgs.... WaPo and NY Times included. The New Yorker was the only one that bit. ![]() |
Amazing. |
Amy is too pro-life. Neither Collins nor Murkowski will support her. Given the mess of this, I don't think red state dems need to worry about supporting such a nominee now. |
Why is it that none of Franken's accusers had to go into hiding, none of the leadership cared about their political affiliations? |
Look at the quotes from Hatch, Grassley, Graham etc last week - they were trying to ram this nomination through WITH knowledge of the second accuser. Now there is a third.
It isn't a confirmation hearing, they are actively trying to cover up the skeletons of the nominee. |
Sure. They didn’t know about the allegation until the New Yorker article. Nice try, though. |

FIFY |
With what we know about the 2nd accuser's story - literally multiple outlets would not touch the story because the accuser couldn't even remember that it was Kavanaugh, people at the party said it didn't happen and after interviewing dozens of people, none had any first hand knowledge - is an indication this has turned into a smear campaign. I can only imagine what the left will do to another nominee - male, female, clean as a whistle - should RBG or any other justice be replaced during Trump's presidency. |
It’s what the #CreepyPornLawyer does. He conducts his business in the “court of public opinion.” This one isn’t going to fly. I am hoping that the FBI now questions every one of the people the #CreepyPornLawyer has making these claims and charges them, and him, with false statements. Because that is what this is. A smear campaign, plain and simple. |
Interesting that NYT buried their repudiation of Ramirez's story very deep in a story about Ford. |
