I understand all of this. But to bring this full circle back to the original topic that started it, "DA Futures". FCV is advertising and pushing the dream of DA and the promise of development to play DA upon the parents of 7 year old kids.

If attaching your name historically to clubs like SYA, South County and Ashburn and then picking the players that those youth programs developed then yes FCV is amazing. But clubs like McLean, BRYC, Arlington and Loudoun seem to do fine on their own without club grabs, team grabs and player grabs like FCV does.

So if they changed the name of that program to "FCV Tots", you'd let all this go?

It would be just as ridiculous but at least it would be accurate.

But in the meantime I'll just wait for the next big club "merger" FCV makes in order to develop the next great generation of other coaches work.

What's your motivation? Is it just to try and steer folks clear of the evil FCV? Just curious as I can not see spending this much energy when you're not even involved with the club. What do you hope to gain? I don't know your story, but I'd assume FCV is in your rearview, you're on to a new club, why keep looking back?

When people claim that FCV develops, or the club likes to make such claims I'm just asking for supporting evidence. Merging with clubs, grabbing teams and poaching players IS what they do but I'm not sure that can be called development. One does not even need to be affiliated with the club to know how FCV has operates. here is the list of the clubs they had mergers with:
Loudoun
Fusion
Ashburn
South County
SYA

Seems to me there’s been evidence just in this thread alone. Does someone need to post links to all the kids that started with the club and are now DA? That’s crazy. You don’t want to see that they develop, so you won’t. Again, why are you so hung up on a club you’re not even with?

The first age group that FCV had under their own umbrella since U9, and not through affiliation with any other club would be 06. All older age groups were developed though mergers and acquisitions.

Okay, but the young lady in the video (I didn't post that) has been with her Coach since she was 7...he developed her right? Are you saying that no other club in the DMV has merged at all with any club? So, you want us to evaluate the 06 team to see how many made the DA squad? That'll be your measurement for FCV development? Just trying to see what your point is.

BRYC = No merger
McLean = No Merger
Arlington = No Merger
Loudoun = May to September romance with FCV

Those aren't the only clubs in the DMV. But I guess they're the only ones that fit the story you're trying to tell. Anyway, I guess you'll never answer the question about why you care so much about a club you've separated from. Clubs in this area are all really good. I know there's no way to root for them all, but you can focus on your own club without disparaging another. Trust me, it's possible. We know kids in many different clubs. Hope they're successful in the club that fits them. Hope the same for your child/children. We've left a club before, and then we didn't spend any energy on trying to tear them down. Wrong club for us, right club for someone else.

They are DA or ECNL clubs so about as apple to apples as you can get. VDA being the only thing similar to FCV but the arrangement VDA has with VSA and PWSI is more structured. Spirit being a startup will likely operate in a similar fashion as FCV but in reality they will end up structured more like DC United in the long run.

Certainly clubs may have some agreements with each other. McLean and Arlington had a little ECNL sharing but there are few true mergers where two clubs become equal partners and adopt a single club name or philosophy. FCV simply claims a "partnership", uses the fields, takes the players moves on to the next club and claims development.

It's crazy that you keep saying the "take players." Come on, people make their own choices. If they see that the development/coaching/team is what they want in a club, then they CHOOSE it. No one gets "taken." You're not giving the parents much credit.

The whole point of all of this is:
1. DA Futures is stupid and simply marketing FOMO to gullible parents of 7 year old kids.
2. Don't take your 7 year old kid to a club simply because they have a talented 17 year old kid.

There are clubs, coaches, trainers all of whom can do a better job for your kid than FCV could or many other clubs could. Do what works for your kid and as the numbers bare out there is no advantage to joining FCV before 14 years old if you want to play at FCV.

No one is touting the success of a rec program. We were talking about retaining talent and developing it, right? This isn't about my kid being the apple of someone's eye. Seriously....it's just not. and BTW kids could be developing at FCV who are not DA players. They have NPL teams. Are the kids playing on those teams continuing to develop and get better? I would bet they are.

I'm guessing 40 to 50 percent at best.

I actually would like to know, rather than bashing FCV, why don’t you highlight the strengths with the club you are currently in, and try to build them up instead? You’re giving a club you despise an awful lot of free publicity. Where are you now and what makes them a better fit, what’s their methodology, playing style like? What systems do they use?
