Western High School Boundary Map options (A/B/C/D)

B/c Crossfield was sent to Skyview, otherwise, Lees Corner would be sent to Skyview instead.

No. Lee's Corner would not be sent to Skyview.

They have set up #1 for failure if you look at the elementary schools.

Either that. or this is like a Rubik's cube when you fix one side, but end up messing up the other one.

There is not perfect solution, but these options are screwy. And, what is with the Wolf Trap area? Where are they going and why are they in the mix?

Because the powers that be want option 2. They know that it is ridiculous to move Lee's Corner. Why else would they not leave Crossfield as they did in option 1. There is no reason to change everything in every option. What's the point of doing it that way?

They know they will get more pushback.

I think you're right.

No. I don't see anything ridiculous about them. Ridiculous how?

It’s understandable people not impacted may not notice but they include splitting up individual neighborhoods at an elementary level which seems even worse than a split feeder.

Which neighborhoods?

I was surprised they changed the ES boundaries. I thought they were only looking at HS boundaries.

One of them splits the Franklin Farm portion that is at Oak Hill (and has always been at Oak Hill). It is crazy.

Scenario's 1 and 3 also screw with the Floris ES boundaries, taking smaller neighborhoods on the eastern side and sending them over to Fox Mill ES. Bussing kids to Fox Mill, while moving out some Fox Mill Woods kids who were walking distance. The ES moves just feel completely unnecessary, and they make small cuts here and there across the map hoping the groups affected aren't large enough to mobilize.

Option 1 is very logical and clean at the MS/HS level to me. I think the ES stuff could easily be cleaned up.

Why option 1 is logical? Because it send Lees Corner to Westfield?

It seems like the least amount of shuffling. Draft 3 has a ton of shuffling with weird boundaries. Draft 2 is bizarre for MS, sending some kids to a different MS then back to the original HS pyramid.

Not true.

Scenario 2 is the least disruptive. Scenario 3 does have lots of shuffling.

I think Scenario 1 will receive very little support from affected families.

Scenario 2 works if they put Oak Hill at Carson.

I will be more blunt. My beef with scenario 2 is the middle school. They move in some Navy kids to Rocky Run, then half go back to Oakton. At the same time, they move out some Poplar Tree kids to Liberty, then they go back to Chantilly. I assume they have to do that because it's too many kids at Franklin, but I think it's toi disruptive to too many kids for just 2 years of MS.

1 and 3 have so many nonsensical ES boundary changes.

GD, boundary changes are a $hitshow.

Why are they even messing with the ES and MS boundaries? Just set the HS boundaries.

Whoever are posting here, they do not care for Fox Mill, they do not care about Lees Corner, all they want is to create empty seats at Oakton.

What? No need to post nonsense.

No. They want logical results. We can all look at maps.

Option 1 moves kids from Carson to Franklin and then to Skyview. In what world does that make sense?
Carson/Skyview sure
Franklin/Oakton sure
Franklin/Skyview wtf

I agree 100%

It makes no sense. And, if they move Fox Mill in--who will be at South Lakes to fill empty seats?

Why on earth would they move a tiny part of Fox Mill Estates to Crossfield while moving part of Folkstone out? Why split up neighborhoods for no reason??

Are they trying to agitate everyone? Go look at the team that designed this. Are they local? Do they even have kids?
