Latest from Dranesville Supervisor in FFX country:
I have good news to share with you regarding the 2142 Haycock Road property that I received recently from Cynthia Bailey, the Senior Assistant County Attorney and James Patteson, the Director of Department of Public Works and Environmental Services. Ms. Bailey and Mr. Patteson spoke at the public meeting my office held in March of this year. The property has a new owner, the John P. Sekas Trust. All outstanding County liens on the property have been paid in full, including the $41,000 for the cost of the County’s partial demolition of the house. The new owner is in the process of obtaining building permits for a complete demolition of the existing foundation and has plans to construct a single-family home on the parcel. The County has worked with John Sekas; he is a reputable builder and produces quality homes. It seems as if the impasse on this property is over and that things are underway to fully restore it. I want to thank you once again for the patience you have exhibited throughout the long process. |
| Interesting, sekas makes nice homes. A great addition to McLean. |
|
Looks like the property sold at auction last month for $480,000. Sekas is a big local builder, mostly in Vienna, but also in McLean and Oakton. He will surely build a big home on the site, but presumably one in which you can actually park your car(s) in the garage.

No matter what, the crazy neighbor who ignited the place to begin with is going to have a problem with any new house on that property. In the crazy neighbor's mind, that property stands for all of the new houses that have been built since, in that neighborhood. Crazy neighbor is reminded he is only one tax payment away from not affording his own house, as the first new house started the comps and taxes being set through the roof. You could not give me that house for free. |
You're very invested in making us believe this, aren't you? |
| We parked by there to take our kids to Open House at Haycock. The neighbor had a sign hanging (similar to those Happy Birthday signs you string up) that read something like Goodbye Gingantor. I had no idea what it meant until reading one of the other threads here about the house. It was gone by the first day of school |
What makes people think that Sekas is going to build a small house? |
No. The arsonist neighbor is.
|
| I thought the arsonist neighbor was dead or something. |
Oh it's you again.
|
Sekas will probably build a 4600 SF house on the site. That's the model he usually builds on teardown lots that size. Gigantor was closer to 7200 SF. |
|
The house is FALLS CHURCH, people.
Can't wait to see what happens, it has to be an improvement. That and the school construction. |
That's the smallest model they make. I am a fan of their work but I think that home is a bit small for that area. I like that model but the masterbed and bath are a bit too small. http://sekashomes.com/pages/homes/cheshire/default.asp |
He has died since. So you don't have to worry about him coming back. |
| Whatever was left of the house was demolished today. DCUM, a moment of silence, please. |
