They made quick work of what was left, in the rain no less.

The lot is now up for sale, sans house.

Who would want to buy that property???

So Sekas bought it for $480K at auction this summer, cleared away what was left of the old house, got cold feet about building a spec house on the lot, and is trying to flip it now for $725K?

Good luck with that.

his insurance company told him they would jack his rates if continues any interest in this cursed property.

He has a big project over in Vienna off Old Courthouse in the Marshall HS district that has stalled. Carrying costs of the land can add up.

It's worth mentioning that the plat shows non-standard setbacks that would most likely require special approval if whoever buys the lot decides to go with these plans.

this house is still sitting at below market price. is it cursed, will the mystery arsonist burn it down again?

The issue is that simply googling the address brings up the entire history. I suppose there's always a chance that a newcomer will buy it without googling it, but most people do a little research before dropping 1.2 mil

No matter what, the crazy neighbor who ignited the place to begin with is going to have a problem with any new house on that property. In the crazy neighbor's mind, that property stands for all of the new houses that have been built since, in that neighborhood. Crazy neighbor is reminded he is only one tax payment away from not affording his own house, as the first new house started the comps and taxes being set through the roof. You could not give me that house for free.

Obviously it is the same party responsible in both arsons. Have they caught the guy yet? Will this builder be putting measures in place? I hope so. The responsible party does not sound very smart.

The new house (to be built) looks beautiful. Who wouldn't want this in their neighborhood? Are the neighbors offended to have to say: "turn at the beautiful new house" to their guests?

I notice many developers tend to hold on to land in this market. Clearly a strategy is in place.

It's weird if you go on google street view--from Westmoreland you can see the house pre-fire, from Haycock you can see the house post-fire. Spooky.

Can't wait to see what happens, it has to be an improvement. That and the school construction.

Postal Code maybe but not Falls Church City, but McLean everything else. There are houses in the Chesterbrook district that have a postal code of Arlington, but are physically located in Fairfax county and are thus in McLean. Same thing here.

Not so obvious. Neighborhood scuttlebutt is that the first arsonist died (electrocuted in a storm) and his friends lit the second one in homage.
