I haven’t paid much attention to Pippa in years, but I always thought she looked absolutely amazing at Waity’s wedding.

I think it may be a generational thing but most people my age don’t view Kate as aspirational. She’s a beautiful woman but her life seems really boring and unfulfilling. She’s kinda like living Melania Trump’s life with two more kids.

Transactional, stupid, and uninvolved is how I see both Melania and Kate. Great they're involved with their kids but they use them to shield them from any actual responsibilities in their respective positions. The fact that Kate was known for three things in 10 years - wigs, skin, and coatdresses - says its all. No accomplishments whatsoever.

Now she's aging and you can see the distress on her face because what does she have now? You can't use kids in boarding schools as an excuse.

Hell, come to think of it I've seen William doing more daddy daycare crap than Kate but maybe the press just don't sell shots of her? Its so weird.

Sure she’s got access to the best beauty experts/doctors but time catches up with us all.

+1 not to mention, it’s ok to age and for women to age.

She is not aging like a normal person. No 40-year-old I know looks like that. Lots of normal American women in office much older than that who don't look like they're in the middle of aging cancer sessions. Something's wrong with her.

With all the photoshopped pictures our expectations of what she really looks like is off so the difference is shocking. If we had natural pics of her over the last decade it wouldn't seem so sudden.

Well I think of her efforts to shine light on early childhood development/the first 5 years of a child’s life. She doesn’t need to win Nobel prizes or have notBke accomplishments.

Maybe she just wants to raise her kids and patronize things she cares about and settle in for the long haul. What, they’ve been married for ten years? She’s got another 50 in the spotlight. I don’t run marathons but isn’t it a bad idea to sprint the first few miles?

Sprint? The girl's got training wheels on still and she's been after/living with William since she was 19.

She absolutely did.

There was a picture of her recently, and she has aged a ton, too. Both sisters have great bodies and prematurely aged faces. They are great advertisements for sunscreen.

This thread prompted me to show their pictures to my 11 year DD and emphasize not to smoke or sunbathe. When you're young, it's hard to imagine the future toll.

That said, Kate probably looks better in person. Photos are pretty brutal, and I've always thought I'm prettier than 99% of the pictures ever taken of me.

Like seeing an actress in a film for the first time in several years and thinking, "OMG, what happened?" But what actually happened was that time didn't stand still!

Ok so what are you actually looking for from her? UN floor speeches? Full time job? Fire the nanny?

I just don’t get what standard she is being held to.

Except she’s not Melania Trump in any other way than she’s a woman, attractive, married to a powerful man. The fact that you cite Melania is evidence that you are biased - grotesquely - and have an axe to grind. Please, move up from your mom’s basement and get some fresh air.

I mean...you said it not me. Its not like its hard. Future Queens and current ones have been doing this since well before turning 40.

Then again the European counterparts to Kate aren't dumb as a rock.

I think people are reacting to the fact that she hasn't stood out or excelled or made her mark in any real way. The Queen's engagements all seem pretty dull and formal, but she does so many of them. She stands out for her incredible work ethic and sense of duty.

Diana stood out for her ability to connect with people. She didn't cover her vulnerability and instead drew people to her as something they shared.

Meghan stood out for glamour, her intelligence/education, and as a biracial woman, her demographic modernity.

Kate's only real commitment has been to early childhood development. That's important, of course, but gosh, people have been doing that for decades. She's not breaking any new ground, so she doesn't get the kind of credit that Diana got for hugging people with AIDS or speaking out against landmines.

In short, her efforts are all fine but not special, so while people may think she's doing what she is supposed to do, they're not invested enough to really adore or defend her.

She is risk averse and keeps her head down and avoids controversy, so she doesn't inspire strong feelings one way or the other.

Even within her early childhood focus she hasn't done anything. She goes to engagements and says (direct quote) 'baby brains become adult brains'. Well thank you Dr. Einstein. There's that and a literal 3-question survey. That's it.

What has Kate done for early childhood development? I hear that getting thrown around a lot, but have no idea what she's done in that area.

Wow. The contrast is really remarkable, and both women are speaking in their non-native language.

The BRF has not been known for its intelligence, though. Queen Elizabeth reputedly always lamented her lack of knowledge/education. Diana had many wonderful qualities but was not particularly brainy.

I assume Kate is pretty smart. Her parents are self-made so not dumb, and she went to good schools. She doesn't seem to be intellectually engaged, though.
