I think it may be a generational thing but most people my age don’t view Kate as aspirational. She’s a beautiful woman but her life seems really boring and unfulfilling. She’s kinda like living Melania Trump’s life with two more kids.
Transactional, stupid, and uninvolved is how I see both Melania and Kate. Great they're involved with their kids but they use them to shield them from any actual responsibilities in their respective positions. The fact that Kate was known for three things in 10 years - wigs, skin, and coatdresses - says its all. No accomplishments whatsoever.
Now she's aging and you can see the distress on her face because what does she have now? You can't use kids in boarding schools as an excuse.
Hell, come to think of it I've seen William doing more daddy daycare crap than Kate but maybe the press just don't sell shots of her? Its so weird.

Well I think of her efforts to shine light on early childhood development/the first 5 years of a child’s life. She doesn’t need to win Nobel prizes or have notBke accomplishments.
Maybe she just wants to raise her kids and patronize things she cares about and settle in for the long haul. What, they’ve been married for ten years? She’s got another 50 in the spotlight. I don’t run marathons but isn’t it a bad idea to sprint the first few miles?
Sprint? The girl's got training wheels on still and she's been after/living with William since she was 19.
Ok so what are you actually looking for from her? UN floor speeches? Full time job? Fire the nanny?
I just don’t get what standard she is being held to.
I think people are reacting to the fact that she hasn't stood out or excelled or made her mark in any real way. The Queen's engagements all seem pretty dull and formal, but she does so many of them. She stands out for her incredible work ethic and sense of duty.
Diana stood out for her ability to connect with people. She didn't cover her vulnerability and instead drew people to her as something they shared.
Meghan stood out for glamour, her intelligence/education, and as a biracial woman, her demographic modernity.
Kate's only real commitment has been to early childhood development. That's important, of course, but gosh, people have been doing that for decades. She's not breaking any new ground, so she doesn't get the kind of credit that Diana got for hugging people with AIDS or speaking out against landmines.
In short, her efforts are all fine but not special, so while people may think she's doing what she is supposed to do, they're not invested enough to really adore or defend her.
She is risk averse and keeps her head down and avoids controversy, so she doesn't inspire strong feelings one way or the other.
